Nissan is going retro what with the name of the new model being 'SUNNY'.

Sunny used to be a very successful offering from Nissan Motor Co introduced in the very early seventies or maybe a little prior to that. In the US markets this car was called 'Datsun Sunny' as Datsun was the brand with which Nissan motor company was known in the Americas towards the end of the Seventies. Still in production in South America, in the US markets this morphed into the Nissan Sentra as the Datsun brand was withdrawn/phased out from the North American market.

The 'Sunny' from nissan was quite popular entry level car among expats in the Gulf regions. It would be quite logical to use this name in their offerring for developing markets.
