I normally refer carwale.com. But off late i am observing a huge increase in the selling value. The following are some of the quotes given by various websites:-
1)carsalesindia.com----- Car Value | Used Car Value | Car Price | Used Car Price | Car Prices India ------Rs.295,700
2)infibeam.com--- Rs.307,500
3)carwale.com---Rs.337,500.
You can consider a price band of 310,000-330,000. |
I have been eagerly waiting for Honda City SMT prices in carwale to reduce after the new year, but amazingly, it increased in carwale valuations..
Here is what they valuate for a Honda City SMT.. quite outrageous
Jan-2011 - Rs8,60,200
Jan-2010 - Rs8,04,000
Jan-2009 - Rs7,52,300
Dec-2008 - Rs7,28,000
I believe that the carwale valuations are not actually obtained after carwale evaluates the cars. It is an automated mechanism that averages the prices of cars put for sale on their website by users and provides us that average as a possible price.
This is similar to what is used in magicbricks.com to estimate the land prices for a particular area in a city.

You're right. There's a small widget which asks for input from users on how much they have sold their cars for. This is why I had said in my post a couple of pages ago that carwale.com evaluations have been inflated by brokers and sellers who've possibly entered higher sale values in order to get a good price or a higher valuation for future sales.
Yup Carwale's price evaluations are outrageous. You can easily knock off 50-80k from these predicted value depending on model to model. For my Honda City 2005 done 60k kms carwale is suggesting 3.5 - 4L depending on the condition. In reality the best offer I got yet is 2.6L from a dealer. I am assuming individual buyer will give me a maximum of 2.8 - 3L which is still way lower than what the website suggests. And more then helping this just creates a feeling of losing money even though you rationalize that there prices are not accurate.
Saw a 2009 fortuner single owner , driven 17000 kms,
Asking price is 1875000?
What should be the correct price?
Car is thane registered.

How is the car condition? History?
If it is in immaculate condition, around 17-18L maximum would be right price. 18.75 is a bit too much IMO.

Guys , I need some urgent help here.
Honda Accord - VTi-L MT.
Year:2005
Color: White
IMMACULATE condition. Kerala Reg. Any Idea what is a fair price to pay for this car.
Folks,
Could you help me valuate this?
One of my friends is hunting for a basic second hand car. He has seen a few, interested ones are:
- A 2004 end model 800 Std (Bangalore), clocked about 45K kms, second owner. Asking price is 1.2 L. No other accessories. Vehicle is in decent condition, tyres need replacement. Reasonable service history. Good to drive.
- A 2006 mid model 800 AC (Bangalore) clocked about 42K Kms, second owner. Asking price is 1.4 L. No other accessories. Vehicle is in decent condition, A/C might have a problem. Reasonable service history. Good to drive.
Is the asking price reasonable?
Thanks,
C_

Nopes. It should be 20K less for both of them. Infact, if you hunt around properly you might just get a 2004 alto for about 1.2 or 1.3L with similar oddo reading. For eg:
Maruti Alto For Sale Contct ASAP-Lingarajapuram, Bangalore Automobiles on Sulekha Classifieds
OR
aruthi alto 2005 single - Bangalore - Cars

Hey thanks. So I'll pass on this info to my friend - that a 2004 model 800 (average / good condition) will be in the range of 95-105K.
Just wondering, if the same was available for buying through a
True Value / Agent then the asking price would have been around 1.25 K and the True Value / Agent would have probably bought it for 80-90K (excluding exchange bonus which is 15-20K for Maruti vehicles)!
Thanks,

Just checked on marutitruevalue.com and there's a 2007 model for about 1.2L with about 40000 kms on oddo. Now it's a better deal as Maruti True value takes cares of its cars. Fixes it up. And AFAIK you get few services free as well. Ask your friend to head out to MTV.
Bump: I have recently come across a Zen Steel 2003 for Sale. What should I quote for the car. Love the 2 door look, primary reason for considering this. Is the car still a good Buy. I feel the car was used for racing
Any inputs team? Thanks in advance
