Hi,
I was scouting for a 2nd car option for under 1.5 lac. 3 box, well maintained, petrol or diesel. Esteem is not a preference. I've come across 2 choices. Please advise on price and other factors.
1. Ford Ikon 1.6 zxi 2003 late, 47000 kms genuine, immaculately maintained, single hand driven, everything functional and clear lines. 2nd owner purely because black money stuff. Guy is asking for 180000. Delhi number.
2. Opel corsa 1.4 GLS, top model, 2003 late, 48000 kms, immacualte condition and clean lines. 2nd owner. delhi number. Guy is asking for 140000.
Both costs have been negotiated and these prices are post that.
Both cars are from a value dealer and come with a 1 year warranty on engine and gearbox and 3 free services.
What do think guys ? I'm thinking , corsa as its german stuff , very stable.
The car will be driven for atleadt 60 kms daily and will be kept for 2 years.
If anyone has any other good options too, pls feel free ya .
Best,
dHM
If they are coming from a value dealer, how are you so sure about the mileage ? Generally the odos are fudged !!
Seems like a good deal.
But the format of your post is very much not in a readable format, When you copy and post your POST from other doc, please remove the font/size else please preview your post before posting. thanks
Mileage: 12-13 Km/hr (local) and 14 /Highway (with AC)[??
I feel It should have been
Mileage: 12-13 Km/L city and 14 /Highway (with AC)
Right ?
Dunno Eddy ! I'm not sure if there's anyway to check .. They just look and ride great that is .
4.35L is a good deal. 48K kms in 4 years means it has not been used too much !
My god, i cant believe the used car market prices. just a year or more back the used corolla was selling at 7L+!(my sis family sold it at 7L)

Eddy
My cousin is the manager of the TV dealership and its he who told about the car and the previous owner is a friend of my cousin. So no need for him to change the odo readings...
Dilip
Dilip, I think we are on the wrong page here .. Eddy replied to my post right ? So where do you come in? Do know the opel corsa or ford ikon in question here?. sorry bro ..
Hey Dilip, my response was to the Motorheads post.
The only way of checking the genuine mileage of the car - See the registration number of the car. Call up the nearest service station of that area. Tell them that you want to get that car serviced, please tell me when its due and when was it done last. You might get an idea that ways. Other than that, get it checked by a mechanic
Yes .. eddy .. But how will a mechanic check this?
Also, do you have any inputs on which car is a better buy?

Both cars quoted come in for major overhaul at 40-50k Kms. If the mileage is genuine, then be prepared for some major expenses in another 6 months.
I have no experience with a Corsa. I own an Ikon flair and the maintenance has been costlier than I expected. The guy who would advice you best on the Ikon1.6 in delhi (his car is also up for sale I think) is abhik. Send him a PM.
The mechanic would look at wear and tear of parts that we would not be able to judge: brake pads, belts etc
