Thanks SDP for the heads up. It was an awe inspiring show. Watching Mr. GHS rip apart that track in his monster was adrenaline pumping, to put it mildly.
I had a tough time driving back home, reigning in the raging desire to do something similar to what I had seen

A Micra also participated.


The Honda City guy really pushed his car to the limits and was able to drift reasonably well.

Pushed hard into the corner and the tyre disintegrated

The track was cleared again.


And drifting started all over again with new rear tyres (on Orange alloys this time)






These 2 lucky guys got a chance to experience one lap each from the passenger seat of the E46.








The expression on the passenger's face was priceless!

Back to the parking lot where my bulky FWD XUV was parked. Would it ever drift? I guess, not. Sigh!

Firstly I'd like to salute Mr.Singhania for his passion, skill and moreover his attitude.

I witnessed the entire event right from start. Although a bit disappointed with almost no turnout from the SCC except for a 911 and speedy's S4, I was not expecting anything on the lines of Tokyo Drift but some simple sideways action on 4 wheels and did end up seeing 10 odd guys trying their best to drift their everyday fwd cars to the best of their ability. Obviously the highlight and the only saving grace of the entire event was Mr. Singhania in his E46 but watching the sweet sounding I-vtec City (red rims) and the Ritz (Munjal) was enjoyable too and I must applaud the skills of all the participants. I was too tempted to join the group of drivers in my car but could not gather courage to push my tall hatchback into handbrake turning and seeing Munjal on 3 wheels was something commendable.

The event was very well managed and enough arrangements were made to accommodate more spectators and more cars, the staff/ guards were friendly and though there were less participants, it went along smoothly.

Such events must be encouraged where talented mortals can test their skills to the limit under a controlled environment. Also drifting is a fun sport and after the event I just came to one conclusion : We need more, affordable rear wheel drive cars for drifting to gain popularity in India.

A quick question for speedy - did you drive with all your safety features like ESP, ASC, etc on when you went for your 2 runs?? The reason I ask is because you seemed to find it difficult to slide your tail out.

A very well organised event by Team GHS. Was good to watch some brave attempts to drift FWD cars. The higlight of the event was no doubt the V8 E46 M3. After watching few laps and shredding of tyres decided it was time to retreat from the sweltering heat. Met up Karan, SDP and Superbee at the event.

@ SDP: Awesome awesome pics. Couldnt find you when I was leaving hence could not say good bye!

It must be a hell of an experience to drive our everyday cars on a closed circuit. To experience what actually the capabilities and limitations of our cars are. Jalsa's Ritz especially looks killer! Driving with wheels in the air and all! The Honda City guy too looked amazing. Cheers to the spirit of the guys! And a big thumbs up the Mr. Singhania.

Yup he drove his S4 for two laps after the names of the winners were announced with the Polo driver (I guess) riding shotgun. Mr.Singhania took the winner for a lap in his E46.

The event was fun & worth the time spent in the Sunday afternoon heat.

For me the best performers were the Ritz (Jalsa) & the ANHC, may be not exactly drifting but was fun to watch them push their car to limits

And off course seeing the M3 e46 drift & burn rubber was truly a sight to behold, also like to mention the sound of the Corvette engine which was howling like a proper muscle car

Hello Jigar,

SDP did informed me regarding this event, but as I was busy in some social visits, I could not come down. But let us hope that such events are organized at regular intervals & I will surely attend next time.

Thank you for the wonderful pictures, as always. I think you should give us few tips on photography during next T-BHP meet.
By the way, I am sure that it would have been real excitement to see Gautam Singhania drift his car & burn rubber. Also most of the spectators would have envied the two lucky guys who got a change to occupy passenger's seat in his car.
