What was the prize for the 2596CC Modded FI category? I was looking at the cool videos some of you posted on this event, and it seemed very dangerious. There were people walking beside the cars while they were racing. I mean that wouldn't be condoned at a track anywhere here. Lots of legal issues and someone can get hurt.

I'm sure they can take pointers from foreign race event organizers.

Agreed but there are a few basic problem Sukh.

1. Lack or should I say total absence of dedicated or specialised venues for such competitions. So we have to compromise & use temporary venues.

2. Total absence of interest from sponsors to sponsor any kind of motorsports.

3. No government support in such activities at all.

If you see anything being done it's due to a few crazy individuals like us who are determined to keep it going to the best of their abilities & so have to compromise a lot on many things. We would love to hold world-class events but unfortunately don't have the facilities & neither can we afford to do it out of our own pocket.

Have you or anyone else consider making a track around the city/suburbs somewhere? Turning it into a business, rent the facility out for public and private events ie(Schooling, Car Clubs, Race Venues)? You guys seem to have some sort of demand for this.

Well, initial surveys show that it's going to cost Rs 4 crore, which is about USD 900,000, just to lay a 1 km long strip of tarmac, good enough for a dragstrip. Then there's the value of land, and that's more expensive than most upmarket suburbs in the US (I'm talking about Bangalore here). Then there's the absolute lack of sponsors, and no support from the government.

We do have a couple of racetracks, and I think they're to FIA spec, but neither is suitable for a quarter-mile run.

To be fair, the organisation is getting better, in terms of safety atleast. No more idiots walking on the strip.
