DAMN :Frustrati .. I was hoping for a much tighter fight between the two Cedias but I guess Gill has it covered pretty neatly !!!

When will we see someone come and give him a run for his money --- getting very boring :Frustrati

40 seconds is not thaaaat big a lead. Still a lot of rallying to go, lets see if Arjun is playing smart!

MAI Indian National Rally Championship 2007

-Official Press Release-

Bosch K1000 Rally 2nd day's report

Gill continues to lead on 2nd day

Yelahanka (Bangalore): The second day of the Bosch K 1000 Rally saw some close special stage finishes between overnight leader Gauravsingh Gill of Team MRF and third-placed driver Vikram Mathias of Team Red Rooster. However, Mathias could make no dent into the overnight lead and at the end of the day Gil and co-driver Moosa Sherif had increased that lead of 1 minute by seven seconds to virtually assure themselves of the overall title in the 4th round of the MAI's INRC on Saturday.

After 12 stages, Gill has clocked 1:07.44, while Mathias and co-driver Nikhil Pai have clocked 1:08.51. Lying a distant third in the overall category is Team MRF's Lohit Urs (co-driver Jaidas Menon) with a timing of 1:14.25. Two 1400cc drivers, Saurabh Chaudhary (Amitrajit Ghosh) and Sreshtha Patil (Ramesh Kumar) completed creditable drives to finish fourth and fifth overall respectively.

With just the super special stage to be run on Sunday, there seems to be no stopping Gill from popping the champagne for the third time in a row from as many starts.

After Team MRF's Arjun Balu, lying second overnight, had to pull out after the day's first stage due to broken wheel struts, the battle was reduced to two cars and it is to Mathias' credit that he did manage to finish faster the Gill on two stages. On the Silk stage, Mathias clocked 3.53 minutes, seven seconds faster that Gill's timing of 4.00. Mathias was faster again on the day's last stage, the Mulberry stage, shaving off 12 seconds from Gill's timing of 7.01 minutes.

Gill, who did not seem to be driving at full throttle, still managed to keep his nose ahead by emerging faster on the four special stages.

Rahul Kanthraj and co-driver Vivek Bhatt assured themselves of the 1600cc title, with all the other drivers dropping out of the fray. With no competition, they were in cruise control mode and finished in a timing of 1:23.35.

The 1400 cc category is being led comfortably by Saurabh Chaudhary (Amitrajit Ghosh), while Mazdayar Vatcha (Madhu K C) are leading the Rally Star Cup. Ace Gypsy driver Sandeep Sharma (P V S Moorthy) is a runaway leader in the Gypsy Cup.

Following are the provisional timings:

Overall category: Gauravsingh Gill/Mosa Sherif (Team MRF, 2000cc Mitsubishi Cedia) 1:07.44; Vikram Mathias/Nikhil Pai (Team Red Rooster, 2000cc Mitsubishi Cedia) 1:08.51; Lohit Urs/Jaidas Menon (Team MRF, 1600N+ Ford Fiesta) 1:14.25; Sourabh Chaudhary/Amitrajit Ghosh (1400cc Esteem) 1:17.10; Sreshta Patil/Ramesh Kumar (1400cc Esteem) 1:19.34.
