Pics: Speed Run 2005 [Sunday]

The Sunday Speed Run was one of the worst I've ever noticed although the security was increased. The security was very strict this time round and was taking no-nonsense from anyone. Since most of us had passes and/or Press passes, we got through with ease.

Well I was completely tanned and my eyes were RED because of yesterday's drag event, and there weren't any signs of improvement today either.

Anyways, I reached the event by 1100 sharp and have no idea what happened before that.

This time though I didn't wait in the Imported Car section, instead just went inside the Press Section where I found the rest of the Team-BHPians. We spoke for sometime and then ComfortablyWhacky, Dippy, F50 and me went through a gap that allows access to the track front of the VIP section. Here we sat close to the track and were taking pics. Only the Press were allowed here, and we had Press passes, so no problems.

The event went on smoothly, unlike yesterday, the other side of the track was inaccessible and was completely covered with high black cloth.

The Foreign Class started and everyone were on their feet. The main race was the Mercedes SL 55 AMG v/s the Ferrari 360 Spider. The Mercedes SL 55 AMG won the race. But the Ferrari sounded awesome at the high-revs, although not that loud as Spiderman's 360.

Neville Poonawala and the Maharaja of Gondal were doing such awesome burn-outs with their Mustang and Corvette. The Corvette was actually sliding.

The bikes too did some cool burn-outs, I could capture some of them, but ComfortablyWhacky got some videos with him.

The only sad event that took place was that a Busa crashed. The guy was Karan. The bike is a complete write-off, but thank God, Karan is now stable but has a thigh bone broken. We pray for his quick recovery.

More details/pics/videos will be posted by me and other members too.
Members/Moderators please post videos/pics/details/highlights ASAP.

I don't have pics of the crashed Hayabusa since it happened at the other end of the drag strip. I think it was the 1300 regn Hayabysa. If it is that, then I have a pic of it doing a burn-out.

I don't have much pics of the Indian Cars/Bikes except for a few. I have no idea which specific car/bike rtech/Iceman/bhp/Dom or any other member had in the Indian Category.

I don't think he'll even be thinking about his bike, but he'll surely be very happy to have survived that crash.

when John left for home, there was such a huge crowd running behind him and he was waving out to them [like a Speed Run winner would]

U bet it was da worst speed run in past 3 years..i managed to shoot some video from the other end of the track. The tin sheds didnt allow us to even take a peek of the cars and bikes.

I guess i m going to rely only on the pics posted on the msg board.

I saw a ferrari n porsche practising the nigt before but didnt see them come up for the actual event.. guess they decided to shy away.

A Mid Day goof up

Pic shown of the SL55 and the Ferrari 360 and the caption reads

" Gautam Singhanias Mercedes races against Neville Poonawalas Ferrari"

When will they ever learn?
