Heh. Nice! Wish I could have come.

Bottle was in awe of his XM1+. Says they were superb. He was thinking of upgrading to Advans, but after the trackday, he says he will never shift from the XM1s! :

Just kidding... Was supposed to be a joke .. Duh!!!

Waiting for the photos.. not many from my cam. Guess venom rider, bottle and neo should have quite a few pics. Venom even had quite a few videos.

Sir, You were busy yapping with everyone while we were busy on track - It was your open challenge that prompted "me" to time myself while i went on track. We were least bothered about timings when we came to the track. So kindly refrain from areas which you are not familiar with

Its great to know that you guys had a blast!

And for people who missed out - Sorry, we did a last moment plan and landed up. Maybe the next time we will try and be a little more planned!

I wonder how you "saw" me yapping at the pits while you were busy driving on the circuit.
Since you took it in such a "sportive" way, I'll post what I didnt want to discuss. I'd just say that everyone at the track knows your timing you did in the sx4.
I'm sure petrol_head will concur that you said 3:20.
Maybe, next time you can do a 2:20 and I will post it on here. Its easy to just throw figures. But, I've learnt how tough it is to make every 10th past 2.30 having had ZERO circuit driving training whatsoever.

Even without the bad brakes, you can't do that. You wanna prove me wrong, go ahead.

Nitrous, just walk the talk. No point throwing words at anyone and everyone.

If you did not have circuit driving training, then you better understand that there are others who've had it and ARE better than you are. No offense to you. CHILL - PERIOD

I'm pretty sure as the better professionally trained driver you are, you could have kept those puny cars and street drivers at bay with the SX4.

Note: This is just a technical discussion to bring out the importance of lap times to avoid fantasy lap timings being thrown on this international forum.
Cheers

Well, with a stock car with adequate power 2:20 is possible I'd say. It means an average speed of just over 100 Km/Hr

Track distance 3.717 kms (Full loop)

PS : Its just a way to have some fun time, why you guys getting so serious ? For example see Jackass err... I mean petrol_head

Disclaimer : Last time I was on the track I was doing 2:40 ("stopwatch" timing on my own so accuracy is anybodies guess. ) lap in my Zen (93Km/Hr average speed). I was the best I could do without breaking me or the car.

EDIT : Next time is there anyway we can get someone to get people timed accurately ? Its a track right, so they will have the "stuff" required.

Dug this up from Old P&P we had

Swift with RD ECU set a P2 mode - 2:22
SX4 2:27 (Yup the one with the turbo)
Elantra 2:17

Please note all the cars did have some "mods", however 2:20 is not impossible with a good stock, street spec car with no mods.

I guess everyone is getting something a little wrong out here. From what I understand what Headers actually meant was a lap in the 2 minute 20s region.. just that so much attention was paid to exact lettering that everyone presumed it was a 2:20.

At the end of the day no one was out there to take lap readings. It was purely an outing just to have fun so why get all worked up about it. Timings were irrelevant.

But ... but... I remember Slipstream timing one of the laps on the swift at 2:35. If those figures were true with the conservative driving that was done in the swift (The car just has just 1800 kms on the odo) I see no reason why a late 2 minute 20s (read as 2:27, 2:28, 2:29) is not possible with the ikon. I remember seeing one of the onboard videos from the last track day where I have the ikon doing late 2:31s (calculated using the player's timing counter so accuracy may not be great.. but still). That time it was done with
1. A first timer in a car on track (atleast in the same car)
2. A broken brake oil reservoir which meant the car hardly had any brakes
3. A severe bout of tyre damage phobia (my yokohamas were 40 kms old)
4. A camera that had to be held in place (of course someone else was holding it)

So this time when none of those issues existed I fail to see why the timing could not have been below 2:30. I did not bother timing my laps or anyone else's laps, its just a calculated guess. but either ways it does not really matter as the whole purpose of the meet was get out on a sunday and have some fun. If people get so worked up about what times others are setting, lets get it formally timed the next time around and put this discussion to rest. At the end of the day if we had really bothered about those hallowed figures, we would have bothered getting it timed. But noone of us did. That is where it ends so it really does not matter who set what.

Lets end this and appreciate the good time we had the other day. Photos awaited
