@AVR - thanks a lot !
Didnt get to see the Xenon up-close, but I can tell you for sure that it's definitely a good looker for full fledged off-roading, but not meant for the track like that. It was a spectacle watching the Tata Motors' un-registered Xenon with regular wheels, fishtail for the lack of weight at rear, on the autocross track.

@no_sweat - thanks man ! I made a big mistake opting for lazying around in the morning. Should have come to the event early instead - it definitely would have been more fun and a lot more photos !

@ AVR - The Xenon was 4x4 and it was running on 31" tyres, probably Apollo ones.

Cheers!

OK, so here the story continues.

Allan was favorite for the race so he was getting good wishes from 1st May night itself & he was very happy about it.

After doing some OTR & preparing our vehicles we went to VIP area.

Looks like a fun event ! Hope to see more like it, infact i didn't really know about this one till Tejas pointed me to this thread.

Few Qs :
1) How was the ranking done? How many laps per car? No penalties, as you guys said?
2) Were there different categories / classes ?
3) Seem to be a lot of tata cars, did they have something to do with it?
And lastly...
4) Where is the pic/vid of Alan on two wheels!?

1. It was two laps. (actually 2.5: half althe lap to get a good start up). We were initially told it was three laps. We were also told the best lap would be considered, but when the results were announced, they announced the rankings based on a totla time of both the laps. The briefing said that each penalty was ten seconds. However, at the end they didn't take that into account. Penalty was if you strayed from the course, hit a barrier or cut through the circuit. All winners had atleast 3-4 penalties each. Teambhp had none.

2. Classes for cars: upto 1000cc, 1000-1400, 1401-2000, 2000 & above, SUVs, gypsy categories. Women category: any car.
Bikes: don't remember: again based on cc.

3. Yes, Tata did sponsor and they won their category. Though I must admit, the guy driving the safari was awesome.

4. Soon. Assimilating pics from many sources. Allans car was tilted at atleast 70 degrees. No kidding.

On the whole, good concept; well organized, but could be better and more transparent. I guess sponsors needed to be kept happy.

Allan sent me the photos and saw the incident ! He didnt tell me what happened ! Remember going through the sequence of photos thinking ok next photo its going to topple. God knows how he brought it back to the ground safely.
Great going mate .
