AutoMission Motorsport is organising an AutoCross event for Cars and 4x4 Vehicles, to showcase and exhibit the level of skill, etiquette, focus and responsibility required in Motorsports. The AutoCross will be conducted at AutoMission's 2.8 Km Dirt Track, homologated by the FMSCI.

Talented & Championship winning Indian AutoCross & MotoCross drivers will display the level of Skill & Control required in Motorsports. Rage buggies, MotoCross bikes and some heavily modified rally cars coupled with Live Rock Music and Simulator Demonstrations.

What is Autocross

Autocross is a form of racing that is gaining quick popularity because of it's unique blend of competition and affordability. Autocross events are time trail competitions, in which there is no wheel to wheel racing involved. In other words there is only one car on the Track at a time. Competing vehicles do not race against each other on the Track. Therefore, each driver races against the clock, not against other cars on the Track. The winners are determined by the vehicles that completes the course with the quickest time.

Participants Point of View:

- It is one of the most basic and simple forms of Motor Sport. It is thrilling for the participants, effective and fast, yet safe.

- Damages to the vehicle are Negligible.

- Simple and easy to participate.

Can anyone come as a spectator? Is there any restriction on that or can we just drive in to the Rally School?

Thank you GTO for gracefully answering all the questions ..
Indeed, Wicked

@killjoy:
Unfortunately at the moment, there are none available for rent. But, surely in the future events (although, as usual, conditions will apply )

AutoCross / MotoCross related dedicated page is this:
AutoMission Motorsport | Events | Upcoming Events | Autocross
(Details of places where the Passes will be available is on the left of the page).

@paras211:
You might have to define a 'low ground clearance car'. Most saloon cars go flawlessly. Honda Civic scrapped out at a couple places (even when going slowly), but those sections are being smoothened out. Flat out, might surely be an issue though in a car as low as the Civic..

Re: Autocross / Motocross on 4th & 5th Feb, 2011 at AutoMission (Khopoli)

scooby (uncle), first of all I like your Post count..
*911*

The WRX-STI, with it's factory spec (if driven as flat out as you can at the track), is definetely not "safe" for the car, as of yet. The smooth dirt at the moment is on 70% of the track (around 1.8 kms), but the remaining 30% (abt 1 km) is still rough, not rough for cars with rally suspension or cars with risen ride-height *with spacers* for egs.
The "stock" Skoda RS, as difficult as it is, to drive at our track, due to it's front heavy, front wheel drive set-up, does drive quite effortlessly.
You surely need to either have stiffer suspension or might have to "lift off" near some of the Dips, just to be on the safe side. But otherwise it's got much smoother than what it was about a month back.

Regarding the 4wheeler FMSCI license, you will just have to download the license application (attached in the first post of this thread, by GTO):

Here's the link:

Download the FMSCI 4wheeler License Application by clicking here.

Or you can also download the application from our website:
AutoMission Motorsport | Events | Upcoming Events | Autocross
(download link on the left).

Once you've downloaded it, you will have to take a printout, fill the form up and bring it along on friday (4th Feb, 2011) before 13:00 hrs.
The application fees for the FMSCI license, for AutoCross is Rs. 600/-

All other details are already listed on the AutoMission AX SR (Supplementary Regulations), which includes the entry form for the AutoCross. You will have to fill this up also, and bring it along with the FMSCI License application..

Hope that helped!

Re: Autocross / Motocross on 4th & 5th Feb, 2011 at AutoMission (Khopoli)

Just to "update" those who're interested,
The event was quite a success. With a few areas in which we need to learn and grow.
As this was our first major event ever, there were a few areas in which we were lacking behind. But with the support and suggestions from the FMSCI, Chief Steward Mr. Nazir Chagla, Steward Mr. Shreekant Apte & Steward Mr. Ujjwal Deepak, from whom we got a thumbs up (with a condition that the lacking area's are well covered, in the future events), we've got a good encouragement to grow into a much bigger and better team.

I will post a detailed report here, on our website and facebook page, with detailed laptimes and results of the Winners.

In the AutoCross, Sanket Shanbhag in his perfectly tuned, fully rally prepared Gypsy stole the show.

Mr. Raju Sheikh will give me a detailed report on the MotoCross results. It was very professionally managed by Mr. Sheikh, besides some minor injuries to a couple riders, the entire event was a huge success.

Although, the only entry from Team-BHP (or from this thread), scooby05 in his super fast literally crazy JEEP Cherokee, got disqualified in the "Open" class due to a failure to do the slalom (at all)

We definitely hope to put on a brighter show next time. But before that we would like to announce that the opening of India's first Advance Driving School and RallySchool, is not too far anymore. More details will surely be posted on Team-BHP, soon.

VypeRji,
First to justify, my missing the slalom- It was already dark and I had to navigate on headlights, then the straight stretch parallel to the slalom stage should have been blocked off with tires after the 2 wheeler event which was not done, and since this was not blocked off the least the organisers should have done was give a 20 second penalty to people missing the slalom stretch!! Being a club event it wasnt required that I protest, but would surely like to know who gave Instructions to 'disqualify', as I can then explain to the concerned person the error on part of the Marshalls.
I had not done the practice lap, and so didnt know where the slalom entry started so went by the markers, and in this case there were no markers to distinguish the 2 lanes.
More on the event later, which was truly Fantastic! Superb effort and work by Automission!

Re: Autocross / Motocross on 4th & 5th Feb, 2011 at AutoMission (Khopoli)

Actually an error on my part, it was indeed a +00:20.0 added to your time, so yes a 20 second penalty to your time which was 04:21.89 (+20 seconds). I apologies for the mistake. And you're absolutely right. Due to bad visibility and obviously the tyres not put up by the marshals properly, to close the access route (only during your and Karan Shah's run) was truely a shame on our part. Although Karan had done the practice run, so he went through the slaloms..

And about the event, surely there were quite a few areas we have to work on, but with support from almost every participant (specially you) and stewards (Nazir Chagla And Shreekant Apte), we only promise to grow bigger and better.. And obviously with Live Video feeds and Live laptime on digital boards planned already for the next event, I think we'll "Rock" it up even harder than this time..

Neat.

Am looking forward to the pictures (and videos?)!

How many participants were there in total, and what was the 2-wheeler / 4-wheeler breakup?

Thanks,
R
