Re: Sales Figures of Cars,SUV's,Light Trucks,Trucks and Buses From Markets Abroad

Here is one link that gives figures of the cars sold in the U.K., brand wise and also the market share of the brand.
Number of new cars sold in UK by month | New car sales historic archive
The April 2011 (latest on this site) sales shows that the top seller is Ford followed by Vauxhall and then Volkswagen that are the leaders in the volume segment. This is followed by Nissan, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, Peugeot, Renault, Citroen, Fiat, Kia not necessarily in this order each of them having something around 2 to 5 % of the market pie. Nissan leaves it competitors Toyota and Honda way behind.
In the executive and luxury car (the higher versions of these cars) segment Audi, BMW, Mercedes are the leaders at nos. 1, 2 and 3. Surprisingly, Audi sells more than one and a half times of what Mercedes sells. Even BMW is ahead of Mercedes. The UK based Jaguar posts a dismal figure of 0.37%, while Land Rover posts a 1.24 % figure of the market share. The "safe car" mantra preached and practiced by Volvo manages to give the car maker a 1.67 % of the market pie.
The figures springs surprises and are interesting to watch. Imports from other continents are not much encouraged and levied duties. The European imports are treated differently with duties as agreed upon by their European Common Market countries.
Here is a link to the June 2011 sales to "The Telegraph". It lists the best selling model as the Ford Fiesta followed by the Ford Focus (are they taking cues from the US market where Focus is a much desired car?). The VW Golf diesel was a best seller in the diesel segment for the earlier part of 2011, that was pushed to second place by the Vauxhall Insignia. These "most wanted" cars have made their manufacturer get a more than 10 % of the market share each, as seen in the previous link.

Re: Sales Figures of Cars,SUV's,Light Trucks,Trucks and Buses From Markets Abroad

The May 2011 sales figures for cars from Australia shows that Holden is their favourite make followed by Toyota and what a surprise? The third place goes to Hyundai. Ford, Mazda,Nissan, Mitsubishi,Volkswagen, Subaru and Kia (another company from the Hyundai Group) follow next in the 4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10th places respectively.Mercedes Benz sold more cars than BMW and Audi in this market. Surprisingly, these three higher segment German brands outsell volume car makers Peugeot, Renault, Skoda Citroen and Fiat that are people's cars, but are down below, DOWN UNDER! And Jaguar has sold only 58 units while Land Rover sold 502 units.

Re: Sales Figures of Cars,SUV's,Light Trucks,Trucks and Buses From Markets Abroad

Here are the July 2011 sales figures of the U.S. market.
Auto Sales - Markets Data Center - WSJ.com
The Ford F-Series PU sits at the top slot in the Top 20 list. Hyundai Sonata is seventh while the Elantra is 15th.The Honda Accord is outside the Top 10 while the Civic and CR-V go to the 19th and 20th places respectively. What has happened to brand Honda? Indeed, the Accord was the best selling car for years together, only recently.
The Toyota Camry/Solara is at third place, while the Corolla/Matrix is at the 11th place. These have however showed a nearly 8 % lower sale as compared to July 2010. Are the recalls taking their toll?
The Chevrolet Cruze at the fourth place is noteworthy. The car is a mid-sizer by U.S. standards and just because their gasoline is getting costlier the Cruze is rising in popularity. The Sonata is also a mid-sizer and is also selling well. The Ford Fusion is at the tenth place.

USA August '11 Car Sales

Chrysler continues climb,Japan begins rebound, Nissan is the only Japanese company with notable gains

"There's some good news and some not-so-good news when dissecting sales figures for August of 2011. For one, Chrysler posted notable gains for all of its brands, especially Jeep, which managed to score an impressive 58-percent sales rise over the same period a year ago.

General Motors also impressed with its figures, with Cadillac's four-percent gain the only one of its brands not to post a double-digit rise.

Of the Japanese brands, only Nissan, with a 19-percent overall gain in sales, was able to adequately recover from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that have been plaguing all automakers for the past several months. That said, both Toyota and Honda managed to post smaller losses than what were recorded a month ago.

Further, the Toyota Camry (30,185 total sales) was again the best-selling automobile (behind the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks, naturally) in August, as it was in July, after briefly giving up that mantle to the Chevy Cruze[/COLOR] in June. Have a gander at the complete set of August sales" ( see attached)

re: August 2011 Sales - International Automobiles (United States)

Volkman, I guess these are US specific figures only.
Why do people keep saying that Lexus is the best selling luxury brand in US. Its BMW from the sales figures and last year for August it was MB.

Lexus used to be the No.1 luxury car brand in the States...a position it held for 10+ years together. They've taken a beating in the last 18 months though, because of a poor product strategy & the beating their reputation took on all the recalls.

Re: USA August '11 Car Sales

Chevy Cruze is No.1 in its category and has beaten the heavyweights like Civic, Corolla and just launched Elantra.

to General Motors.

Civic and Corolla are built in several countries and are not so badly affected by the Tsunami like the premium cars Lexus/Prius.
