Im pleasantly surprised. The photoshopped/CGI pics dont do it justice. The ones taken live are breathtaking. Im sure it will look much better in flesh.

The Best thing about BMW is that they have not lost their DNA amidst the modernisation. BMW shows us how to retain desirability without loosing values.

The conventional handbrake lever should have been axed.

GLOBALLY - As long as it still drives like the E90, it should be well received.

IN INDIA - 320d + BMW Logo + Beige/woody interiors + Soft ride = Success

Somehow think only the "luxury" edition will be launched initially.

I get your point chief, but don't you think, a manual one'd be well handy when you're in a RWD with a really naughty mill?

Actually, that is one thing I missed when I drove the F10 and I am glad they retained it in the F30.

Another video with some good views of the F30 (interior and exterior). The design is starting to grow on me

That is one angry beemer! Elegance has given way to pure aggression. The way the hood slopes down to the grille reminds me of the Z4. Rear remains almost unchanged.

Okay fine, I really like the car

Only thing I'd change would be that ugly chrome housing for the kidney grills. A black one would look much better IMO

The new 3 series looks really impressive and very very angry.
Any news/guesses about its launch in India? Would love to check this one out.

I would expect it to be launched at the 2012 Auto Expo, New Delhi, if not earlier!

I like the way the headlights merge with the grille. But It could have been executed a little better, IMO. I can't Photoshop, but I have a vague idea of what I would have liked the new 3 Series to look like. Clue: I'd take a lot of inspiration from the E30/E36 3-Series. I'd bring that one-piece grille back!

Hello,

Trust me having the hand brake there is pretty much a must not only for the 3 but as a part of it's DNA. I am glad for this car they did not do the electronic parking brake, but what I wish to know is without the electronic parking brake will it have Auto Hold function? I've started loving that feature.

Thanks for the Video and be assured you will have the option of the black grill, it may not be standard but will make it to the accessory list.

Regards,

Moderator's note: Thread moved from Indian Car Scene to International as there is no concrete news of when this will be launched in India and no cars have been spotted in India as well.

Hi, on a separate thread you had hinted on the intro price of the bmw 3 which would 'blow' the new C class away. Or was it based on design ? either way are you able to shed light on it again as i cant locate the thread.

Thanks

Re: The 2012 F30 BMW 3 Series Unveiled. Details on Page 3

I think the front end is a bit forced and looks like a bit too bling.IMHO the present 3 that I own looks better, the present 3 Coupe looks even better. The interiors does not look as classy too.It looks too basic and I can't understand family look interiors! Why would I want my 3 series look the same as a 1 Series???

I think the car industry seriously misses Chris Bangle’s touch, atleast his stylistic cuts and creases.I know he made cars with frumpy rear ends but atleast they were a bit different from the generic looking cars BMW is producing now! For instance the 7 series made by Chris Bangle looks way better than the present model.Park it side by side and ask a lay man which is the latest model and I bet 9 out 10 times they would pick the Bangle’d 7.Just compare the interior pics of the old and new 7 Series and my question is whether BMW has taken a step backwards with their designs?

I would wait for the new Jaguar X type replacement before plonking money on any of the German's in this segment now.

Re: The 2012 F30 BMW 3 Series Unveiled. Details on Page 3

Hello,

Will give you few points,

1. 3 Will be launched in Q1 2012, Auto Show launch is planned but they might do it early or later to avoid getting lost in a herd of launches, but it will be one of the greatest and game changing launches in the segment, expect others from various segments to get shivers,

2. I meant there are some fascinating variants which will make it into India not all at once but in a short time after the initial launch where it will open a whole new price ever seen in this segment since the first C-Class was launched.

3. Initially the base models will not come in, and M3 will be here Q3/Q4 2013 and nothing before that, but also expect the Coupe / Convertible and the GT in due course,

And for the post if you still need to see it here it is,

BMW and it's Small cars for India.

Regards,
