UK cops are known for their fleet of Skoda Cars. So it is no surprise, the NEW Scala joining the fleet.

It has arrived in its current strongest form, so under the hood is a turbocharged petrol five-tuned to 150 hp, which spins the front wheels. On the other side of the car, in the luggage, you can count on a capacity of 467 liters, which can be folded up to 1,410 liters by tilting the rear seats.

All modifications were made by the British representation of Skoda, so it is an official modification, which in addition to the graphic sticker also includes the installation of warning lights and beacons. As with the Karoq and Superb, the LED strips have been integrated into the front grille, and they also appear on the roof and rear. The horn is then three-tone stoampérová. In addition, however, the police can also choose special equipment, such as installing a pen for dogs in the luggage.

The Chennai police force uses All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) for patrolling Marina and Elliots Beaches.

He thought cop cars only have v6 engines so will never be able to catch him.

Too bad for him -

Cops are quite good at extracting speed from their cars and know shortcuts

Cops all have radios in their cars for the past several decades so can notify other cars further along the road

Read this on reddit today!

Also learnt a new saying "You can outrun the motor but not the Motorola" (the cop radios) :)

That image shows an Acura CL. It is probably the S type, which has 3.2L engine with 260bhp and 315Nm on tap. That is probably why he thought he could outrun cops. :)

I had the same generation Acura TL, but not the S type, which means only 225bhp and 294Nm.

One of the BMW 5 series belonging to the New South Wales police force caught fire after parking on dry grass, following a pursuit.

Quote:

The highway patrol car—a turbo diesel BMW 530d—was chasing a teen driver near Tweed Heads, the ABC reports, and pulled over on the roadside after a spike strip punctured the fleeing vehicle’s tyres. Moments later, the police car was ablaze. Accounting for all the equipment inside—including an in-car video system, number plate-reading technology, and breathalysers—it was worth about $200,000.

Read about this today :) I think the rule states that cars should be half full with gas or half battery charged at the beginning of shift !

A gasoline car can be tanked up in couple of minutes and restart the chase in remote areas. A electric car has no chance.

Not sure how viable it would be to have an electric vehicle as a Patrol vehicle. Charging time and range would be a big big concern.

Beautiful car! All the more better since it is a free loan car to the Victorian Police! Great publicity for BMW Australia.

I remember in the late 90s, thieves in Sydney & Melbourne used to steal Subaru WRXs and used them as getaway cars from robberies - the far more powerful, but lumbering fullsize V8 police pursuit cars (Ford Falcon XR8 / Holden Commodore SS) could not catch them in the city streets - thus the legend of WRX was born (and accounted for quite a few sales)!

Ten new Suzuki "Jimny Sierras" joins the Italian police cars!

Škoda- Kodiaq RS

Although this model has never been primarily targeted to shine with security forces, it has found application in the UK.

Quote:

The more powerful version has a two-liter turbo-diesel engine with a power of 178 kW (242 hp), patrols can meet the declared consumption of only 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers. The facts will be different, especially when using an acceleration time of only a tenth over seven seconds. The British added powerful signal lights, sirens and phosphorescent colors, as is customary in their "uniformed" cars.

While the fully decked out Ford Ranger Raptor is not likely to replace the fleet of BMW and Volvo sedans, wagons and SUVs that UK traffic police now widely use, the desert-racer pick-up is being assessed by various regions for suitability in specialist areas.
