re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

Looks are very subjective in nature and as it's said "One man's meat is other man's poison", the looks of this thing follow in later category for me.

I thought FF is one of a case and next Fezza will surely be a good looking one but no they haven't stopped there. This might not be as ugly looking as FF but it's bad looking nonetheless.

re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

Nothing quite like the old world Ferrari in terms of looks. My all time favorites are the 330 P4, 250 GTO & 288 GTO.

On the positive, they have made the ugly looking FF look good (relatively speaking). Needless to say, these are strictly my opinion and i am no car design guru but am a die hard Tifosi.

re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

I am somehow Ok with the looks. Not sure how it would look in real life but in photos it looks a lot more brute and masculine than 458. I would say 458 is better looking, but this one is also not bad in terms of machoness.

Slight OT, I dont find the Aventador good looking too. I mean its outrageuos and very catchy and very imposing and very aggressive but somehow I dont like its looks. Gallardo and Murci looked a lot better.

So for looks between the two I guess its even. (Although I am not in a position to choose between the 2 to buy )

Lets see what this baby can do on the black top.
Common Ferrari give us one more master piece.

re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

Shoot! What have they done with the rear?

When I saw the front of the car, I thought nothing could be worse than that. But it seems, the rear quarter angle is now the worst angle to look at this car, and the best being the side profile.

A missed opportunity I'd say.

re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

Honestly, I didn't like it at all. There is so much 'FF' lines and design characteristics in there.

It would most probably be a great track car as it's a Ferrari, but the flamboyance of a Ferrari is missing somehow. Pity!

One thing is clear, as far as the looks and meanness goes, this new Ferrari can't hold a candle to the Aventador. A Ferrari follower (I am one, so no offence to others!) can only deceit and comfort himself by the old adage of 'beauty-is-in-the-eye-of-beholder' and love this car, but even then any one blessed with a gift called eyesight can tell that this is no match for the big brash Lambo, period!

I would tend to believe that the 458 is the peak of the recently launched Ferraris.

kudos to Ferrari for sticking to big V12s in this era of pollution norms and absolutely crazy environmental pressures.

I agree with you. Front is forgivable, side is acceptable, rear is unbelievable ( meant the other way)

Re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

There was a time when I was hell crazy about the Ferraris (ofcourse Schumi winning F1 titles also had an influence). Considering the present scenario ferraris are trying too hard to transfer the F1 tech into the road cars (nothing wrong in that), but IMO they are losing the plot of making drop dead gorgeous poster super cars. Just look at all the curves in F1 cars and same is getting transferred into their road cars and how many of us would buy the F1 cars purely on their looks? On the other hand Lambos are getting hotter day by day, just look at the font used on the websites of AVENTADOR and 458 ITALIA you will get my point.

Lambos are getting sharper and Ferraris are getting curvaceous (courtesy F1), ferraris are still selling alot on the pedigree they carry but how long can they sustain this?

I was very surprised when topgear team recently tried to find an alternate to the 458 by choosing between Aventador, Noble M600 and Mclaren MP4 12c, I was like c'mon aventador has its own league and Mclaren is equally good too. I just feel that the 458 is purely overhyped and there many better cars which dont get the same respect. But I guess gradually ferrari might be able to understand this and start doing what they used to do best, till then HAIL LAMBORGHINI!!!!

I think this car is just sublime. It looks utterly gorgeous. I had to break my many weeks/months of silence to comment on just how beautiful this is. I can't wait to see it in the flesh.

I think its a very good PS job on the FF.

The shut lines don't match, some parts are very blurry and the lines are too similar to FF. And I highly doubt Ferrari will showcase the new car just like that.

Thats not a PS job,it was a private unveiling in the factory i think. There are two more pics, one from the side with the doors open showing the interior, and one of the back.

Re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

Looks like a slightly modified 2 seater FF to me.
While it looks slightly tolerable than an FF, considering what i was expecting (a REAL rival to the aventador in terms of design) this has to be a disappointment.
Until seen in flesh (whenever that is) for me,
Aventador > Berlinetta

Re: Ferrari F12 Berlinetta - The 599 Successor

I've been in love with Ferraris ever since I started watching F1. Somehow, the 599, the FF and now the F12 are different. I mean look at the 458, somehow maintains the Ferrari design element throughout. While the other 3 don't seem so. But honestly, the Aventador looks much much more imposing and better compared to the F12.
"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog that counts."
So much for that eh?
