Re: Leaked: The new 2014 Range Rover Sport!

Though this is 'badged' as an RR Sport, IMO there are much chances of this being the EVOQUE XL (LWB)

Check out this story;

Also i found another spy pic of the 'badged' RR sport, with may be the garage owner ;

I just can't imagine it can be anything like or any variant of Evoque.

1. The Evoque has got its unique and highly distinctive look, being recently launched.
2. There is no way Land Rover would commit a grave blunder and tarnish Evoque's image like this with another face and that too such a bland one compared to the Evoque, even if it has to be a LWB variant.
3. Even the link shows the camouflaged images which has absolutely Evoque like face including side fender designs.

Re: Leaked: The new 2014 Range Rover Sport!

I really like the sport, more than the new Vogue. Earlier people would confuse the Sport and the Vogue, but now I doubt that will happen. Also the fact that they may offer a 2.0 in a car this size shows that some major weight shedding would have happened here too. Can't wait to see how quick this is with the 510bhp V8. Cayenne Turbo has some competition maybe?

Re: Leaked: The new 2014 Range Rover Sport!

Looks like the RR sport will be revealed today at NY Auto show 7:30 PM EST. I like what I hear; weight shedding, more aerodynamics and smaller engines. Looks like RR is finally targeting every segment, good for TATA.

And it has been finally revealed indeed !!!

From Carscoops blog -

"The first thing you need to know about the new Range Rover Sport is that it switches from a steel body-on-frame construction to an aluminum unibody design and that in the process, it underwent a strict diet achieving a weight saving of up to 420kg (925 pounds) in the case of the TDV6 diesel model over the outgoing model. Pretty impressive indeed.

According to the British company, the new Sport is “the fastest, most agile and most responsive Land Rover ever”.

The sleeker looking 2014 Range Rover Sport is 62mm (2.44 inches) longer than its predecessor at 4,850mm (190.9 inches), and also has a significantly longer wheelbase (increased by 178mm or 7 inches ), which not only provide greater room and improved access for rear passengers, but also allows Land Rover to offer a new 5+2 seating option.

While longer in overall length, the new Sport has shorter overhangs at the front and rear than the previous model. It is also 55mm (2.1 inches) wider than the Mk1 and is 8 percent more aerodynamic with a Cd of 0.34.

Compared to the regular Range Rover, with which it shares its all-aluminum, bonded and riveted PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform, the new Sport is 149mm (5.9 inches) shorter and 55mm (2.1 inches) lower, while model-for-model, it weighs 45kg (99 pounds) less.

Land Rover states that, while based on the Range Rover Mk4, the Sport model benefits from 75 percent unique parts.

Under the body, you will find a fully-independent, lightweight aluminum suspension with double-wishbones at the front and a multi-link layout at the rear. A fifth generation air suspension provides up to 115mm (4.5 inches) of regular movement, while an automatic extension that is triggered by sensors and a manually-selected extension, both raise the Sport by another 35mm, giving a total movement range of 185mm (7.3 inches).

New or enhanced chassis technologies for the latest Sport include the Adaptive Dynamics system featuring continuously variable dampers (CVD), and on more potent models, a dedicated Dynamic mode in the Terrain Response 2 system.

The 2014 Range Rover Sport also gets an all-new electric power steering and offers a choice of two full-time 4WD systems, the first of which provides a two-speed transfer case with low-range option, a front-rear 50/50 percent default torque split, and 100 percent locking capability. The other option is a simpler (as in less capable) and lighter (by 18kg or 40 pounds) AWD system featuring a single-speed transfer case with a Torsen differential.

Powertrain options differ from region to region, with North America getting two gasoline units, 335hp (340PS) 3.0-liter supercharged V6 and a 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8.

In Europe, the Sport will launch with a 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 petrol and a 288hp (292PS) 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel, with the lineup to be expanded in early 2014 by the addition of two more diesels, the 255hp (258PS) 3.0-liter TDV6 and the 334hp (339PS) 4.4-liter SDV8 diesel engines. Land Rover said that later in the same year, it will introduce a new diesel-electric hybrid variant.

All petrol and diesel engines are paired with an electronically controlled ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission.

Notable tech features include a new, optional color Head-Up Display (HUD), a digital camera system that supports three driver assistance features (Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High Beam Assist), plus the new Wade Sensing feature that provides ‘depth’ information when driving through water "

All-new Range Rover Sport unveiled

Actor Daniel Craig unveiled the New Range Rover Sport at a promotional event held in New York. New York as the venue was quite apt, as America makes for the Range Rover Sport's largest market.

The new model goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013 and is likely to hit the Indian market at the same time. An option for 3rd row seats to make it a 7-seater will increase its appeal in India. An economical 4-cylinder diesel is a possibility too.

Launched: The new 2014 Range Rover Sport!-photocaptiondaniel-craig-allnew-range-rover-sport-new-york..jpg

75% of its components are shared with the Range Rover; that's a lot in common between the two SUVs. The Sport is now lighter by 420 kg as a result of extensive aluminum construction and is quicker, more fuel-efficient and eco-friendlier than its predecessor.

Engine options for the UK include two versions of the TDV6 3.0 Liter Diesel developing 258 BHP and 292 BHP respectively, along with the massive 5 Liter Supercharged Petrol that develops 510 BHP. In the USA, only two engine options are available, both supercharged petrols; the first, a 3.0 Liter Petrol developing 340 BHP and the other is the same 5 Liter Petrol sold in the UK.

Prices in the UK start at £51,550 for the base Range Rover Sport SE with the 3.0 Liter Diesel Engine. They go up all the way to £81,550 for the top-of-the-line Autobiography Dynamic with the 5.0 Liter Supercharged V8 Petrol.

Keeping with its off-roading tradition, two choices of four wheel drive systems will be offered. One is biased towards driving on tarmac, is 18 kg lighter and has a 42:58 torque split between the front & rear wheels. The other 4x4 system has superior offroad capability with a low-range box, equal torque split between the front and rear wheels and locking capability.

Re: All-new Range Rover Sport unveiled

LR V6 engine specs look very good; 340HP, 0-60 in 6.9 sec and 25 MPG combined! It beats Cayenne V6 in power, pickup and fuel efficiency. weight is 4727 pounds.
For comparison sake:

Cayenne V6: 300HP, 0-60 in 7.4 sec, 22 mpg combined, 4475 Pounds
BMW X5 V6: 300 HP, 0-60 in 6.4 sec, 16/23 mpg (maybe 20 Combined), 4960 Pounds
ML350: 302 HP, 0-60 in 7.3 sec, 18/23 mpg (maybe 21 combined), 4751 Pounds

Not that numbers speak for every aspect of a car but start for RR is not bad!
(All figures are from manufacturer websites)

This is literally one of THE best looking cars I have ever seen, aggressive, but not overly done. It looks especially good in grey.

Re: All-new Range Rover Sport unveiled

Superb job by JLR or shall I say Tata

Meets all my expectations and more! However there is one change that I absolutely can't digest they did. For me the Range Rover, especially the Sport's USP was it's high and commanding seating position. From the front seats you felt like a king and from the rear you felt like a Princess Even from the rear you got massive window room.
This new version has seats that sit lower so the occupants feel more cocooned and involved... BLAH !!

The car now has real "Sport" proportions and drag coefficients. They had to rake the windshield more and lower the center of gravity for this. You still sit pretty high though, with the air suspension in normal mode(the pictures show lower mode)

He did cut 2 different commercials as well.I think the money goes to S.A.F.E a charity. The value of pairing the 2 British icons(RR/Bond) is priceless in my opinion anyways!
