Mod Note: Our Jaguar F-Pace Report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!
As SUVs and crossovers continue to prove profitable for many luxury carmakers, more brands are seeking to join the party.
Jaguar is among the next candidates for entry & looks like Jaguar now has a name for its SUV be it the Q Type or the XQ.
The Jaguar SUV is expected to reach the market before 2015.

Jaguar are looking to gradually add to their product line. A Jag SUV/Crossover would be something to look forward to!
But wouldn't that create competition with in the Family itself, because Land Rover and Jaguar are as closely knit as possible!
And Land Rover's are amongst the best SUV's money can buy!
My brain tells me these names were registered for yet another prototype!
Or maybe they might come up with a crossover from Jaguar, because launching a crossover with an LR badge will dilute the LR brand's DNA!
Oh and btw, the picture in the opening post reminds me of the current Q7, no matter from which angle I look at it.
During a very recent(within last 6 months) interview with JLR boss in an auto show, he confirmed that there are no plans for a Jaguar SUV because LR's sole focus is SUV.
But what I don't understand is why? Shouldn't jaguar be concentrating on sedans and sports cars instead of suv. I'd much rather prefer a hyper car from jaguar in the lines of xj220 (not sure if I have got the name wrong). IMO, it would he better to let LR make the suv and softroaders.
I read somewhere that Jag is concentrating on launching a compact sedan to compete with A4, Beemer 3, Merc C! They said there is no plan for SUV as yet in India. Or may be this news doesnt apply to Indian market.
This just looks like a cross between an Infiniti and the Jaguars. I was reading that Jaguar does not plan on getting into the SUV segment for now as they are developing other sedans to compete with the other manufacturers. I think the SUV's should be left to Land Rover and jaguar should stick to what they know best the sedans.
Quite mad eh?
Soon I guess we will have even a Bugatti SUV or maybe something equally frightening!
I think this mentality of trying to be everything to everyone has got to stop, because this is one of the first pitfalls that any brand is likely to fall into - compromising its "point of view".
Jaguar SUV concept will be showcased next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show :thumbs up
More details reveal that the SUV will be on the XS platform (Jag's 3 series rival) rather than any Land Rover platform.

A very interesting render surfaces;
^ IMO looks more like a crossover than a SUV :thumbs up

Now Jag decides to call their cars Q, XQ, Audi calls their SUV's Q somethings and Infiniti calls all their cars QXs. Great love for the Q alphabet it seems!

Thanks!
From the looks of the posted picture it appears to have that X6-espque raised hump, Could this this mean the new SUV is not an SUV but a crossover instead?
Very Interesting..
