re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

Please tell me this is some sort of April Fool's joke?
Chevrolet cannot be serious about this design!

re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

I seem to be in the minority here, but I really like the way it looks. As ad pointed out the headlights draw heavy inspiration from the Fluence. The tail-lamps are good as well. The design looks very european (am I really the only one). The interior looks so cool, but I would wish that they retain the 'golf ball' type gear-stick.
Think about it like this. The Jetta is as understated as could be, the Cruze is following a similar design pattern.
C'mon guys please don't compare it to the old car, think about it as a brand new product. Would you like it then?

EDIT:- @nik_kapur the looks were never the Cruze's USP, it was always about the engine

Dear mate, Comparison is surely going to be done as the present generation Cruze has created a good image in the minds of people. Therefore, to be frank this design does not do justice as a facelift of a popular car.

But, When you tell us to see it as a new product; then to some extent I can agree with you. Still as a car-lover, I would not like to see this as the new Cruze and wont settle for the name-sharing either.

As far as the USP is to be judged; the present Cruze has a massive looking body with a powerful engine. However, if I have to mention the USP of this model, then in my view it will only be the name-sharing with the present Cruze which will also play a major role in it's initial success.

See, the indian customers pay equal attention to car's look and technology. So, it is possible that the facelift may have best of the technology but if it does not appeal to the masses then the sales and image of the brand shall be at stake.

Thanks

AD

I love the cruze for its power and looks! It was a power house in the segment. The new cruze seems to look similar to the Nissan GTR. Anyone else thinks so?

Nissan GTR?

I think Hyundai Verna. Anyways, total disappointment compared to the original.

re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

Being owned the old school Cruze i am not much impressed with the exterior looks. The previous Cruze looked as if it was a winner of a Bodybuilding championship in cars where as the new one looks more like an athlete.

In other words the new gen looks definitely toned down, it is a looker but not the aggressive looker what it used to be, the tail lights are the only aggressive bit of the car now

As far as the interiors are concerned i am mighty impressed with what i see in the pics & is definitely a notch above in terms of quality of materials & have to say that Chevy have taken the already aggressive interiors of the old school 1st gen Cruze a step above with this new gen, sadly cant say that for the exteriors though.

re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

The new design look poor compared to the soon outgoing Cruze, and I thought the new one looks more like the Ford's with its big grille but that photo comparo with the Verna made me laugh, it does look a lot like it head on! Even the rear of the current design is a lot nicer. Interiors seem like a big step up though, if the quality is as big a step up as it seems Chevy might still have a winner on their hands here.

At the time cruze was launched, it really had futuristic looks. I hope they do the same with the new model.

re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

The new version has killed the masculine character which was a very distinct USP of the car. This looks like a hyundai verna sibling!

The hulk has turned into a metrosexual thingy!

Did anybody notice that FULL leather clad dashboard? Even the Corvette doesn't get any of that!

re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

As the disappointment with the recent 2015 Chevy Cruze spy pics still lingers, Chevrolet announced today the 2015 Cruze will debut at the New York International Auto Show.
Am unsure whether this is a facelift 'before' the real next generation comes out, or the ones we saw earlier were Chinese market specific.

Updates on the interior enhance convenience:
• Revised cupholders make it easier to insert and remove cups
• Trunk release relocated to the center console
• Door lock switches relocated from the center console to the front doors.

Additional standard and available features include:
• Seven-inch-diagonal color touch screen and additional USB ports
• Chevrolet connected by OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot
• Next-generation OnStar and MyLink enhancements with natural language voice recognition
• Available Chevrolet AppShop (later availability)
• Available navigation.

This is how the new refreshed Cruze looks like.

re: The 2nd-generation Chevrolet Cruze

My understanding is that all the cars are now going for more of fluidic design which to an extent might be increasing the aerodynamics of stability and increase in fuel efficiency. That is the reason all the cars are having such looks and claiming to delivery high mileage.
Ford, Hyundai, Renault and to an extent Honda are having such looks.
That's my perception no facts but worth a comparison and even being inquisitive as to why all companies are striving for fluidic look.

For me, the headlamps look similar to Fluence.
Meanwhile, this Cruze is China specific. The one which will reach U.S will look different.
I just hope they provide some muscle to the U.S specific Cruze and the same comes to India.
