T-Roc will be the fifth member of Volkswagen’s SUV family, alongside the second-generation Tiguan, third-generation Touareg,Taigun and CrossBlue.

This will enter VW's plan to satisfy the current crossover crazy boom. At it’s shrunk to 4,179mm in length to match the CUV boom.
Built on the MQB platform and sharing its platform with the upcoming Audi Q1 – the diesel-powered T-Roc is will cater to most markets and is a good pointer to future variants.

With Taigun speculated to debut in late 2015/early 2016, the T-Roc is expected to arrive in 2017.

re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

Wonder if this is the same Golf SUV VW was talking about. Had heard some rumors about it some time back. That was also sharing the platform with Audi Q1 IIRC and was supposed to be placed below Tiguan.

re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

On its C/SUV onslaught, VW prepares the T-Cross to be a segment above the Polo SUV( T Cross) and below the Tiguan.

Based on the Golf VIII, it differs very little from it.
It is approximately 4.35 meters long T-Roc will have exterior panels, a partially autonomous interiors and an off-road suspension with larger wheels as comapred to the Golf.
All-wheel drive , dual-clutch gearbox and variable dampers will be available, such goodies but cost an extra.

Quote:
Since the golf VIII again an e-version is in the works, and the T-Roc could benefit from the hitherto much improved electric concept, which is causing a stir with a range of 420 kilometers. For incinerators, the hierarchy is also rearranged.
As entry-level engine of one liter three-cylinder is used with 115 hp, it ranks a 1.5-liter four-cylinder (150 hp) to replace the 1.4-liter TSI units. After diesel, the gasoline train get train particulate filter. The 2.0-liter turbo of the as yet unconfirmed T-Roc GTI could cover the entire range from 230 to over 400 horsepower.

re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

T Roc is VW's C/SUV based on the Golf placed a segment above T Cross (Polo SUV) and Tiguan. Coming in 2018.

Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform-vwgolfsuvtroc2018vorschaumotorenundpreise1200x80086c918e76f721e66.jpg

Technically, the approximately 4.35 meters long T-Roc differs only in details from the new golf VIII.
Quote:
The T-Roc-Wardrobe is a Volkswagen unusually extroverted and lifestylig, plus there is a partially independent interior and a rough road chassis with larger wheels. Since the body shell comes from the high-volume, a removable Targa roof would only be produced at great expense - and thus remains unlikely. Four-wheel drive, dual-clutch gearbox and variable dampers, there will be those goodies but cost an extra. Priced ranked the T-Roc closer to the Golf Variant as the Tiguan, ie at around 20,000 euros. The surcharge for the planned coupe version is expected to be just under 2000 euros, replete prices ranging up to 45,000 euros.
Gasoline, diesel and electric motor

In Europe and then probably also in the US, the Wolfsburg push also the natural gas. Finally, CNG has a comparable performance and reasonable costs a CO2 savings of 25 percent

re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

Volkswagen is set to expand its Golf line-up next year with a new crossover-style SUV model influenced by the T-Roc concept.

To be slotted in a segement below Tiguan the CUV will show its production version later in 2017 though the refined concept will appear at 2017 Geneva motor show.

The sale of the T Roc will be after the Polo SUV, so it will be most like on sale from 2019 .

Quote:
Unlike the original targa roof-touting T-Roc concept revealed in 2014, the production version of Volkswagen’s latest SUV is planned to receive a fixed roof and five-door hatchback layout similar to that of its more conventional Golf siblings. While adopting typical Volkswagen styling elements, the new SUV will sport a uniquely styled steel body, according to factory sources

re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

2017 and beyond will see a lots of compact/SUV launches from VW.

Volkswagen T-ROC will go on sale in Europe late 2017 and will also be sold in US early 2018.

A left field approach to the sport utility vehicle genre, the T-ROC will come with a removable roof from the get-go. It should be noted that only the middle section of the roof is removable. The roof can be neatly stowed in a special compartment integrated into the underside of the trunk.

Front-wheel-drive by nature, the 2018 Volkswagen T-ROC will also be offered with 4Motion all-wheel-drive. Similarly to the quattro system in the Audi Q2, the T-ROC’s Haldex-coupling system employs an electro-hydraulic clutch actuator to actively distribute torque between the front and rear axles.

The entry-level powertrain combo will come in the form of a tried-and-tested 1.4-liter TSI turbo-four matched with a six-speed manual transmission. A seven-speed DSG dual-clutch box is also in the offing. On the turbo diesel-powered front, VeeDub’s familiar 2.0-liter TDI

This looks like Targa of SUV's. I don't like SUVs much but this is one hell of a beauty. Why can't Volkswagen sell it under Audi or Porsche umbrella in India. This should sell in reasonable no., after all they are selling beetle as well.

re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

VW gears up for plugging the gaps in its C/SUV portfolio. The T ROC based on Golf and slotted between the T CROSS ( Polo based) and Tiguan will reach dealerships in Europe by end 2017.
Expect it to be feature rich with connectivity and updates

Quote:
The goal is an automatic connection of the phone, whose user interface and apps is reflected in the cockpit. The rapidly advancing digitization opens up new perspectives.
Quote:
Since the Golf VIII again has an E-version in work, the T-Roc could also benefit from the greatly improved electrical concept, which can be heard with a range of 420 kilometers.
In the case of the burners, the hierarchy is also rearranged. The one-liter three-cylinder engine with 115 hp, the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine starting at 130 hp as a replacement for the 1.4-liter TSI units, is the entry-level engine.
Also the auto-ignition and the dual clutch transmission supplies the golf shelf. After the diesel, the petrol engines also receive particulate filters by train. The 2.0-liter turbo of the T-Roc GTI, which has not yet been certified, could cover the entire spectrum from 230 to over 400 hp.

T Roc is going to be VW badged Audi Q2 by the looks of it, and Q2 is on the MQB platform and closely related to A3. I wonder though if the T Cross is going to be based on the current Polo Platform, I reckon it would be on MQB platform A0 which will be used for new Polo.

Re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

VW's first of its lower end SUV the T ROC set for a launch closer to the sale date - end 2017.

Built on the Golf platform the T ROC will be a segment below the Tiguan targeting buyers who don’t necessarily want the increased footprint of an SUV, but value added practicality and a raised ride height.
.
With images shown at the Geneva Motor show the T ROC , ut will be boxier than the Tiguan, with squared-
off wheelarches, chunky C-pillars and a prominent shoulder line that sets it apart.

Quote:
Mechanically, the T-ROC will share most of its DNA with the Audi Q2. In fact, the T-ROC is likely to be similar in length to the Audi, at around 4.2 metres, and measure 1.8m wide. The same version of the VW Group’s versatile MQB platform that underpins the Q2 and SEAT Ateca will form the basis of the T-ROC, so a wheelbase of around 2.6m is expected; that’s similar to the standard Golf hatchback’s, too.
Quote:
The similarities with the hatch
won’t end there, either, because engine and gearbox options available in the T-ROC are expected to be taken wholesale from the Golf range. That means an entry-level 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo with around 115bhp, while
the 148bhp 1.5-litre TSI EVO turbo petrol engine that was first seen in the facelifted Golf will also be available.
Quote:
diesel engines are expected to make up the bulk of sales for the new SUV.
Quote:
should see 1.6 and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines in the T-ROC, with power ranging from 115bhp to 148bhp. Six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG gearboxes will be offered across most engine options.
Quote:
Entry-level versions will be front-wheel drive only, but it’s likely VW will make its 4MOTION four-wheel-drive system available on higher-spec diesel versions.

Re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

Very first images of VW T-ROC, a crossover below the Tiguan. Not for India( as of now) T ROC will arrive in Europe late 2017.

Draws design cues from Tiguan and the Gen Next Polo.

Quote:
Engines speculated are the 1.0-litre three-cylinder and 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines while the diesel are the 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre units, and four-wheel drive will be available as both an option, or standard on higher-powered models. Six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic gearboxes are also expected, with the latter an optional extra
A 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with up to 242bhp will power the Nissan Juke Nismo-rivalling T-Roc GTI.

Re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

T Roc looks awesome and this is ideal for India.
At around 15 Lakhs, it could find many buyers. VW needs to focus on small SUvs, the next gen polo and Vento.

Re: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV - Based on the Golf platform

VW's T ROC to go on sale in China in 2018. Will be locally manufactured.

A CUV based on the Golf platform replicates the dimensions of Audi Q2.

Quote:
The operation will happen in partnership with FAW, joint venture responsible for the local production of the Jetta, Golf and Bora, among others.
If VW decides to go premium in India with another sub-brand catering to the mass segment, then there are chances of T-ROC landing in India!

Quote:
With all this, the Volkswagen T-Roc will conquer space in several production plants, including China (possibly with a brother "rival"), Mexico (to meet the US and ... Brazil), Europe and perhaps India.
