They are all (or maybe at least many) in the net. Mitsubishi are the latest in the mea culpa club.

Fiat under investigation for irregular emissions strategy.

Germany's authorities have discovered that NOx reduction system switches off after 22 minutes; official emissions test lasts 20 minutes

Quote:
The paper also alleged Bosch had informed German investigators that Fiat was using a system that either stopped or greatly reduced the effectiveness of emissions-reducing filters.

Reports suggest that it was test on a Fiat 500X that exposed the issue.

Thank you for sharing this, and it's quite interesting to see the results. To make it easier for people to see the full results of these tests, I have extracted the data to Excel, separated the Petrol & Diesel cars into some simple tables which are sorted.

Fiat and Opel summoned by German emissions regulators.

Latest emissions scandal development; both brands will meet with German authorities next week.
Quote:
It was first reported late last month by German newspaper Bild am Sonntag that Fiat was under investigation by German authorities trying to establish whether the car maker has been running a system to manipulate European emissions tests.
Quote:
Tests conducted by Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) are reported to have found that some Fiat vehicles' pollution-reducing systems were running for just 22 minutes before cutting back their effectiveness. An official laboratory emissions test runs for about 20 minutes. Reports suggested that it was a test on a Fiat 500X that exposed the issue.

Re: VAG's emission fraud - VW cheats in emission test

Is Fiat next to be embroiled in Emission scandal? Fiat refuses to corporate with the German authorities.

The German Transport Minister has accused the Italian-American manufacturer of not cooperating after Fiat-Chrysler failed to show up for a meeting concerning the emission levels of their diesel models.
The German Ministry of Transport had invited Fiat to meet with officials on Thursday as part of their broader investigation for illegal diesel emission control systems, caused by Volkswagen’s own scandal.

Quote:
Fiat’s lawyer sent him a letter cancelling the meeting with the excuse that the company’s models are certified by the Italian authorities and therefore they are responsible for any investigation.

Re: VAG's emission fraud - VW cheats in emission test

Volkswagen, U.S. make substantial progress toward final deal: judge

Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) has made substantial progress toward reaching a final settlement next month with car owners and the U.S. government over the German automaker's cheating on diesel emissions tests, a federal judge said on Tuesday.

But major issues remain, including how much the world's No. 2 automaker may have to pay in fines, which could run in the billions of dollars, to federal and state regulators for violating U.S. clean air rules, as well as an ongoing U.S. Justice Department criminal probe.

U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer in San Francisco reiterated that a settlement will include substantial monetary compensation for U.S. owners of 482,000 polluting vehicles that emit up to 40 times legally allowable pollution.

The so-called Dieselgate scandal has hurt VW's global business as well as its reputation and led to the departure of its chief executive officer and other executives. Dieselgate erupted last September after the company admitted using sophisticated secret software in its cars to cheat exhaust emissions tests. As many as 11 million vehicles worldwide have been affected.

At a brief court hearing, Breyer said lawyers for car owners suing Volkswagen and the U.S. Justice Department, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Trade Commission, the state of California and the company were on track to file the final proposed settlements by June 21.

The "parties ... have reported that in the month since we last met they have made substantial progress in intensive daily efforts to finalize the agreement, and most importantly are on track to meet the court's deadline," Breyer said.

The U.S. settlement would also include an environmental remediation fund to address excess emissions and a fund to promote green automotive technology.

Elizabeth Cabraser, lead lawyer for the U.S. car owners, and a Volkswagen spokeswoman both said the parties were pleased with the continued progress and planned to finalize the agreements next month.

Breyer said engineering studies and testing were continuing toward a resolution for the owners of 80,000 larger 3.0 liter vehicles but offered no timetable.

The vehicles emitted up to nine times the legally allowable pollution, and it was not clear if the automaker will offer to buy back the larger 3.0 liter Porsche, Audi and VW SUVs and cars under investigation.

The EPA ordered VW last September to stop selling all new 2016 2.0 diesel vehicles. The ban was extended to 3.0 liter VW, Porsche and Audi diesel vehicles in November. The order remains in effect.

After the June 21 deadline the agreement faces a public comment period and must get final judicial approval, which could come at a July 26 hearing.

Re: VAG's emission fraud - VW cheats in emission test

India Update:

Volkswagen awaits approval for its dieselgate fix in India

Quote:
Once it gets the clearance, the solution would be applied on 3.23 lakh vehicles that have been sold in the country with the EA 189 family of engines
Quote:
The recall process for vehicles fitted with the EA 189 diesel engines, which was to begin at the start of 2016, is yet to get underway. These EA 189 engines are of different displacements 1.2-litre, 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre TDI. The 1.2-litre and 2-litre engines need software updates in India, while the 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre engines will get both software and a hardware fix.
Volkswagen could start recalling vehicles by the end of June or July to fix the problem. It is aiming to complete the process within six to eight months.

This fiasco has gone on for long enough.. about time that a judgement is passed and the chapter is closed. Personally I hope the fines are large enough to cut VW down a couple of notches. The same should be done with every other manufacturer that resorted to such deception whether its GM, Mitsubishi, Nissan or Fiat.

In the end its not about the company or cars in general, its about the environment. Stopping all the 482,000 polluting vehicles and even more worldwide will not help make the environment any better, but in a small way perhaps it may stop it from becoming worse. VW tried to pose as the perfect goody two shoes but that wasn't necessary, for any company its only essential to be transparent and ethical. Enough debates and paper-pushing have been done.. time for changes and I hope the judge brings down his hammer hard.

Re: VAG's emission fraud - VW cheats in emission test

German Regulator Approves VW's Fix For 2.0L TDI Engines, Volkswagen would inform the customer of the recall and asking to make an appointment with an authorized dealer.

Following the retrofit, which will be made free of charge, all cars will meet legal requirements and the software solution won't affect fuel consumption, performance or noise emissions.

In other related news, Volkswagen will delay the launch of the recall campaign for cars equipped with the smaller displacement 1.2-liter TDI EA 189 engines, which was initially planned to kick off in the second quarter of this year.

Quote:
Volkswagen's technical solutions to repair the 2-liter TDI engines equipped with cheating emission software have been approved by Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

The fix comprises of a software update and revolves around more than 800,000 units of the Passat, CC and Eos, powered by the EA 189-codenamed diesel

After approval in Germany for fixing the emission issue, VW India issues for recall here!

Volkswagen to recall 1.9 lakh cars in India starting July.

Quote:
The company said that the recall is purely voluntary in nature as it did not face any charges regarding violating emission norms in India unlike the US
Quote:
Starting from the second half of 2016, Volkswagen will recall 1.90 lakh cars and continue till ten months

Nissan Stops Selling the Qashqai, Awaits Final Report from South Korean Ministry

Quote:
Even if the company didn't develop a "defeat device", like Volkswagen, they could be looking at a major recall. The Korean government no doubt found NOx emissions in the real wold far exceed those promised by the manufacturer. But by how much?

Nissan says that it is aware of such issues and is prepared to carry out a technical improvement to reduce NOx to a point agreed upon with the South Korea Ministry of the Environment
