Re: Next-gen Skoda Yeti coming in 2018. EDIT: Named Karoq

is it just me or does this car look very much like the Q3! As a former owner of a Yeti which was scrapped(due to floods) this brings immense joy to my better half. We both loved the old Yeti but she happened to love it more. I don't mind buying this and giving my wife my V40 as an exchange

Re: Next-gen Skoda Yeti coming in 2018. EDIT: Named Karoq

One thing is certain this car is a leach on the road for its class of vehicle. It has negligible body roll around the Nurburgring.

Check it out at full throttle around the ring. This could be my stop gap car till the Tesla Model 3 hits Indian roads.

Re: Next-gen Skoda Yeti coming in 2018. EDIT: Named Karoq

All Skoda's C/SUV's to go K...... Kodiaq, Karoq, and another upcoming K..... the smallest of the lot!

Skoda Karoq - full specs revealed.

Engines :
Petrol - 1.0 L TSI (113bhp and 129lb ft) & 1.5 L TSI(148bhp and 184lb ft)
1.5 L TSI - 8.4sec 0-62mph time and featuring active cylinder technology.

Diesel - 1.6-litre TDI that produces 113bhp and 184lb ft
- NEW 2.0 l at 187bhp and 295lb ft, enabling a 7.8sec 0-62mph time
- 2.0-litre TDI that’s familiar to the brand, which produces 148bhp and is the most fuel-efficient engine, offering 64.2mpg combined and outputting 115g/km CO2

Drive: 2W/ 4WD with 6 MT/ 7 DSG AT
- In higher-spec it comes with Skoda’s Drive Mode Select system, which enables the car’s drivetrain to be switched through Normal, Sport, Eco, Individual and Snow.

-Driver assist systems include a radar-based adaptive cruise control, blind spot detect and front assist, which includes automatic city braking with a pedestrian braking system.
- There’s also hill hold control to prevent roll back and emergency assistance, which can intervene if the driver becomes incapable of driving and adaptive cruise control and lane assist are on.

Quote:
A hot vRS version looks on course to join the range at a later stage, possibly making use of Skoda's 217bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that's used in the Octavia vRS.
A smaller K..... will join the SUV line-up of Skoda, a compact smaller than VW's T ROC and which seems to be inline with the Polo based Compact T Cross and is aimed at the Chinese market and maybe extended to India too.

I think beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
Its quirky, yes, but certainly not hideous! To me it has functional classic looks. Quite understated and pretty elegant and functional which is why I bought it.
Here's my 5+ year old Yeti.
The beauty of the present Yeti is in it's unconventional shape. The design certainly polarizes opinions. It can never look old or new, and for a person who is looking at it for the first time it will look quirky but not old. The Karoq name is certainly hideous. The looks are conventional though, will satisfy many for sure, but will not get wows for sure.

Excellent poise and body balance through those pretty high speed corners. Looks very likely that the suspension is tuned towards sportiness rather than comfort.

Mind you, these Karoqs would have been driven by expert drivers knowledgeable of these N'ring corners, and hence could ease them into the corners so smoothly. The average driver or those not knowledgeable of each corner would destabilize the vehicle with last minute moves.

Re: Next-gen Skoda Yeti coming in 2018. EDIT: Named Karoq

Skoda Karoq to receive digital dashboard.

It also becomes the first model of the brand, boasting a recent feature electronic somewhat different kind.

It is a projection of the brand logo marks on the ground near the car. It started with the BMW , then joined Mercedes and relatively new to Audi.

Quote:
No details known of how the logo will be projected on the ground, but it will be either under the door like Audi and BMW, or a similar type of lighting in the door mirrors as a Mercedes. And because Skoda today usually illuminate the space with car mirrors, we bet on the last option

Yes - A miniature Kodiaq, with wider upper headlights with reshaped lower part, the rear LED taillights seem a bit different.
Inside the cabin, we get to see an all-digital instrument cluster representing a premiere for Skoda along with an electric parking brake and those glossy black bits. Needless to say, the Karoq is getting Skoda’s latest crop of infotainment systems with a glass design as in Kodiaq.

Re: Next-gen Skoda Yeti coming in 2018. EDIT: Named Karoq

Looks smashing and Skoda does have a winner on its hands. The Kodiaq may actually still be the better seller in India. The logic being the Superb outsells the Octavia and the Kodiaq would offer similar value as the Superb at a higher price point that the Karoq.

Looks great. I think VW has only VW and Polo to rely on in India. Skoda sure has better vehicles with better accessories and options.

Re: Next-gen Skoda Yeti coming in 2018. EDIT: Named Karoq

The car looks much cleaner & in line with current gen Skoda cars. Only if their infamous ASS lost it notoriety, it'd do true justice to it's design & quality.

From pricing perspective, where do you think it'll be placed? Below or above Octavia (20L - 27L OTR approx in Pune)?
If it's slightly above, let's say 22L-30L OTR, where would it leave Kodiaq (most probably again 5 seater) with then (32L - 42L OTR)?

Amidst all this pricing, would Audi then skip the Q2 for Indian markets to avoid overlaps/cannibalization?

The very last teaser of Karoq before it embarks on a 1500 km road trip from the brand's hometown, Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, to Stockholm, Sweden, where it will celebrate its world premiere, today.
