price cut for new model along with discounts with march rush = sale of 1000+

this is true for most manufacturers, wait for coming months esp with repo rates going up and see how the sale of all cars will come down.

reg corola, IMO: its overall an ok car with decent VFM at the current price, with my limited exp driving one for couple of 100 kms

point noticed: to each their own phenomenon is going up day by day here in the forum, am also guilty have to admit

the current corolla may look outdated and not as good as its competitors but check out the all new 2008 corolla which is most likely gonna make it to our shores soon after its world debut next year. it is definitely gonna give the civic some nightmares. here we go...

Wood Alloys??? Some cost cutting here? lol:

The next gen 08 looks super both from the inside and out. However in India the current gen is gonna stay they flog it completely, the are selling the executive version HE for almost 4+ lacs less than the guy who buys the H4 fully loaded, it simply just drives the toyota image downwards as rightly said by Csentil..

Corolla '08 looks awesome .... mouth watering interiors , its basically a CAMRY cut down ....

is this a redesign or a facelift?
the mid section is very similar to the current one.

Looks like its just a few panels here and there rather than a completely new car, (anyway they did the same with the Camry). However the overall effect is good and still manages to look uncontroversial.

All this is over a year too late.. Honda is reaping all the benefits.. Looks like Toyota is playing catch-up...

fully agree....they were high nosed and lost the plot. The only worthwhile thing they have done in last few years is launch innova.

they can continue to sell current version of corolla and they will defintely find buyers, but they will never be the leading manufacturer like in US.

they can learn from Honda. It is whipping them by launching updated city, civics, CRVs...a small car, a B+ sedan (against ikon, esteem, logan), small suv (against scorpio, safari) and a minivan (against innova) should be sufficient to wipe out toyota and a few other arrogant manufacturers from India.

Nope, every panel is new. Same with the Camry. That's an all-new platform as well.

I think Toyota would be on their heels right now. They would have realized pretty much by now what they need to do to capture the market

The reactions dont seem to say so - The fortuner would have taken a good slice of the market, but Toyota has this nose up in the air attitude that we will decide what "Indians" deserve. That attitude will NOT work for them. Its high time they bring current products to India... The new corolla will be here only next year i guess (too late...), the small car will not be here for a few years.. So wonder what they are doing other than stripping a few of their current products and going to institutional buyers and trying to be portray their products are not outdated.. Try some other country to that..

New corolla looks awesome. Perhaps better than Civic. Interiors are amazing. Looks better from outside too! But the styling of exterior is similar to new Camry. It will certainly do well when it comes to India

No point comparing this year's model from Honda with next year's model of Toyota. Honda is not going to be sitting idle and will have its variant for the next year. Compare what is current available or max expected in a few months...

And don't get taken in by the looks of the new Corolla - by the time it gets here, the mandarins will add at least 5 inches (or feet??!!) to the ground clearance to suit 'Indian Roads'.
