Ferrari unveils the 812 Superfast

Ferrari has selected the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show for the world premiere of the new 12-cylinder berlinetta, the 812 Superfast, the most powerful and fastest Ferrari in the marque’s history. This new car not only introduces a plethora of innovative features but is also particularly significant as the V12 series marked the official start of the glorious Prancing Horse story in 1947, 70 years ago this year.

Re: Ferrari unveils the 812 Superfast

I have mixed feelings on the design. Very happy with engine though : ()
It's gone from the old cars 730HP@8250 rpm to 788 HP@8500 rpm and the Torque figures increased from 690nm@6000 rpm to 718nm@7000 rpm

Question, this will replace the F12 Berlinetta? or is this a limited production run to celebrate their 70 year anniversary?

Thanks for sharing!

This car also marks the end of an era. Read somewhere that it's the last naturally-aspirated V12 Ferrari. I love turbos, but there's nothing quite like redlining a naturally-aspirated 12 cylinder.

Holly Molly!! 800BHPs

If I am not wrong, this and the Vulcan are the 2 most powerful naturally aspirated engines available today? Where as Vulcan is a Track Only car, this is a road legal GT car. Complete crazy stuff.

I like the front on this one, better than the F12, but this back side is not good looking at all. F12 had a very beautiful backside in my opinion, with the right curves and all. This just feels like 2 cars merged into one.

Can't wait for the reviews.

Re: Ferrari unveils the 812 Superfast

I am a fan of V12 Ferraris and this being the last one to get a naturally aspirated V12 makes it the last 'proper' Ferrari for me. But somehow, it does not feel like a new Ferrari, rather looks more like a facelift to the F12 plus a gain of 9 BHP over the predecessor F12 TDF.

Re: Ferrari unveils the 812 Superfast

Is it just me or this looks more like a Vette from some angles?

And the new Vette looking like a F430.

Or maybe it's just me.

That's because It is just that.

Unlike Lamborghini the guys over at Maranello are shameless and have presented this as a new car whereas It's nothing but a facelift with a tune on the engine.
Lamborghini did the same exact thing with the Aventador except they didn't call it a new name. In fact, I think facelifted Aventador S has more to offer compared to its older non S variant given its rear wheel steering.

By the way, this one's got an electric steering. A first for Ferrari. Shows how much electric steering has evolved in the recent past.

Ferrari 812 Superfast Dash !!

There's nothing too radical in here, if you've seen other recent Ferrari interiors.

If you look at the 599 GTB, the F12 and now the Superfast, all of them span over a period of 15 years. The design though, hasn't changed. The silhouette remains the same, i.e. long bonnet, swoopy roof and short tail. The design language is clearly evolutionary.

Therefore, it would be extremely unfair to write off the Superfast as "nothing but a facelift with a tune on the engine".

By that logic, every generation of the Porsche 911 since the 1970 has only been a facelift.

The changes to the Superfast are more than skin-deep. The advances Ferrari has made in aerodynamics are phenomenal. The basic V12 construction may be the same, but the components have received major overhauls without a doubt. The gearbox too has been constantly improved over the years. Every single detail of the car will be agonized over, it's just that the styling (especially in pictures) won't convey the full story.
