The next-gen BMW Z4

Well well well..

Move over Jaguar F-Type. There's a new roadster in town!

BMW has unveiled the new Z4.. and it's an absolute stunner!

This may be a "design study", but I'm certain 90% of it will find its way to production!

Reports suggest that the new Z4 will come with a choice of three engines, including a 2 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged motor as well as a turbocharged 3-litre straight-six!

The new Z4 should take the fight to the Jaguar F-Type and the Cayman / Boxster twins. (Both the Jag and the Pokers come with 4-cylinder engines now)

P.S. Is it just me, or is there something very Zagato about its design? For those who don't know what I'm on about, please google "Z4 Zagato".

Well Almost! The F-type borrowed quite a bit of brilliant-simplicity in its design from the erstwhile Z8. While this one's awesome but just seems one or two additional elements or creases than necessary.

I am actually more curious about the Toyota version!

Re: Spy Pics: BMW Z5!

Some shots from the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

These images in their lovely background, bring out the best in the lines of the Z4 concept.

The driver gets to see a lovely iteration of the BMW cockpit. But the passenger side not the best looks or material selection.

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

This is the best looking Z4 yet. Primarily because for the first time it doesn't look like a "chick car".

It's grown to be more muscular and angry. Just the way a 2 seater sports car should be.

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

This car looks striking and I believe this new was possible only because BMW has finally moved away from their signature headlight and tail-lamp designs. Even the dash design is evolving. Hopefully, similar changes would make their way into their other models.

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

That's easily the most aggressive looking design to come out from Bavaria as of yet.
Those enormous wheels don't look like they will make it to production though.

Just look how the wheels of the previous gen Z4 look puny in comparison to the new model.

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

Looks so minimalist when viewed from the side. It just has metal wrapping nicely over wheels. Front is still not graceful.
Sometimes feel sad for having relocated back to India !

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

Its undoubtedly the best looking Bimmer around and also I'm happy with the fact that BMW has not carried over the ugly looking black plastic (which holds the camera housing) in this car and I just hope they disappear from future BMWs.

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

I would still prefer the current (or 2nd gen) Z4 with its more rounded look. Most of the new BMW's or even Mercs have a lot of angular lines with a lot of creases - maybe that's the new design theme, but I find it too crowded. I still prefer the rounded looks and clean lines.

Also the interior - gives "2-tone" interior a completely new meaning.

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

Among the beauties in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Ed Loh from Motortrend seems to take interest in 2 beauties in the below video.

The BMW Z4 Concept and the Le Mans Ford GT car from their WEC efforts (Not sure what win at Le Mans he was referring about.

One thing from the video that burns your eye within the socket is the One-Off Mclaren 720S MSO commissioned by American Multimillionare car collector Michael Fux. (I seriously did not want the Garish sight of this car to populate the 720s thread. So not posting anything about it there.)

BMW z4 patent images leaked;

The production version IMO is not as striking as the concept, more on the lines of a Miata / Fiat 124

Re: The next-gen BMW Z4

Yikes. It looks so underwhelming!

The concept car was so stunning in terms of how differently designed it was!

Or maybe the patent images have been "re-skinned" to not reveal the actual body-panel structure of the production car?
