Re: The 4th-gen Hyundai Santa Fe

Classic case of 'too many cooks spoil the broth'. 4 different cars in one package, if that means anything. You start loving the rear profile, alas! It's a BMW copy.

I don't like the trend of oversized, aggressive grills. To me, it is metaphorically against the current thinking of being frugal and eco-friendly.

Re: The 4th-gen Hyundai Santa Fe

I'd say I like this better than the new Creta's grill (saw the photos of ix25 and decided to not wait and booked a Seltos because ot that grill). I didn't like the side profile at all - if they remove that arch above black padding above wheels, that will make it much cleaner. Now, leave the chrome liner around the windows and convert everything else to black (side, front bumper, rear etc) and change the grill to pure black simple mesh (no design elements) and I think it will look like a really mean machine. Especially in darker colors. Last Santa-Fe we had here was a very slick looking design (so was the last Tucson too).

Re: The 4th-gen Hyundai Santa Fe

On a lighter note, I think Hyundai will start selling cars in sizes soon, almost same exterior looks in different sizes.

S - Venue
M - Creta
L - Santa Fe
Salesman : Sir, if none of these suits you, we will have size XL (Palisade) in stock soon!

This guy has mildly redesigned the front and back of the new Santa Fe... Have a dekko. I found this version more palatable!

Re: The 4th-gen Hyundai Santa Fe

I like the new facelift. Though the creases are a bit too many, I'd say that they serve to mask the bulk. The face too with the sleek DRLs on top and I like the touch of the double "T" pattern running from the headlamps into the DRLs. The thick slab of chrome on the chin I'd perhaps do without.

The interiors look great to me and I think Hyundai and KIA are really upping the game on this front. The luxury brands better watch out!

Would be interesting to see if they introduce this in India. I am not sure whether both the Santa Fe and Palisade would be able to co-exist in our market. Both the Santa Fe and the Tucson being five seaters too. I think there is a seven seater version too but Hyundai might consider bringing the Palisade better for that capability. However a Hyundai at 40-50 lakhs might be a tough sale. As it is the Tucson is finding the going tough.

Drive on,
Shibu.

The creases also increase structural rigidity, since flatter pieces of sheet metal will sink due to lack of support, creases serve well to reinforce the metal at crucial points. Granted, the sheet metal itself has little bearing on safety as compared to the structural cage, but stronger sheets transfer far lesser damage to the cage due to torsional rigidity.

The duo has always done great interiors, now they make perhaps the most balanced, most inoffensive and very well packaged interiors in the business while most other brands are overdoing it, Toyota and Honda specially.

This surely won't come to India, even if it does it will be stripped down of many features and overall build quality to fit the 40L mark on-road, to come under Fortuner/CRV territory, both of which are severely overpriced as well.

I feel though, that if Tesla, a company with hardly any legacy, can sell their rattle bucket cars (complaints are coming in by the thousands even in 2020), at steep prices, Hyundai surely deserves the premium at this point, all brands have to go up the ladder at some point.

Re: The 4th-gen Hyundai Santa Fe

The new Santa Fe that was revealed recently will get new engines. Powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to an electric motor. The combined power output is 230 HP and 350 Nm. There will be a new plug-in hybrid engine too offering a combined output of 265 HP and 350 Nm.

The 2.2-litre diesel has been revised now gets 2hp more, 200hp to 202hp, but torque output is unchanged at 441Nm.

Re: The 4th-gen Hyundai Santa Fe

I think I love this, especially the one with the performance kit, I wish they do get it here in India, more as a flagship rather behind volumes on this.
