2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class US pricing starts at $109,800

The entry-level version of the new sedan is the S500 that uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with Mercedes' EQ Boost integrated starter-generator. For $116,300, buyers can upgrade to the S580 with a twin-turbocharged V8 that also has EQ Boost. Both powertrains use a nine-speed automatic, all-wheel drive, and have a top speed of 130 miles per hour.

2021 Mercedes S-Class being recalled over Steering Problems up to 1,400 units are affected.

The inner tie rods are the culprit, potentially leading to serious steering issues in a worst-case scenario.

Mercedes explains the affected 2021 S-Class cars might not have the inner tie rods intended for this vehicle, in which case the connection to the steering rack might not “permanently withstand the stress of driving.

According to Mercedes, the component is shipped by the supplier pre-assembled as a complete unit and then installed at the Factory 56. It goes to show the entire production process, even for an absolute flagship car built at a new high-tech plant, is only as strong as the weakest link.

Picked up the US spec'd 2021 S580 executive line two months back. Will be sharing a detailed review and technology firsts. Chip shortage still haunts Mercedes and interior assistant does not work on my car. Also as USA did not approve Digital Lights, I get the multi beam headlights.

The key things I like about this car:
1. Suspension damping
2. 3D parallax display drive dashboard
3. Mercedes Me personalization and profile adaptation with fingerprint sensor/PIN
4. Massagers on all seats
5. Ventilated seats and heated seats for everyone
6. High resolution display on all screens (except arm-rest MBUX Samsung tablet)
7. Integrated toll module, that transmits car occupancy for accurate tolling
8. Garmin Venu (MB branded) integration with Energizing coach
9. Wooden-capacitive touch enabled steering system truly designed to detect hand and not fooled by torque steer
10. Continuous eye-monitoring to display 3D parallax and detect microsleeps and driver-fatigue
11. Amazing heads-up display and colorful too. Headsup can overlay road strips in red when lane assistant kicks in. Imagine the precision that detects your eye sight level and camera calibration to generate such amazing overlays. No wonder they call it augmented reality.
12. Switch over to high beam and low beam with animated effects.
