I actually really like this. It may not be the most original of designs, but it sure looks different. Quite refreshing now that most cars have started to look the same. The dashboard looks amazing too.

Hyundai as a brand in India has gone from strength to strength. A Sonata wouldn’t do much for volumes, but it’ll help their image and they should consider bringing this here. Hyundai also has good large diesels, something which Honda/Toyota lack.

I for one am waiting to see a revival of this dying segment. With the Passat, Camry and Superb here, I hope the Accord and Sonata also find their way to the country.

Brilliant! I love what Hyundai is doing with the new Sonata. It looks like a proper upmarket product. And since the older ones were already very accomplished mechanically,now it is a visual treat to. Those pin strip LEDs are indeed pushing the design theme. I am amazed it even made it to final production. And boy those interiors. The front may resemble this ,the side may be from that and the rear may be a duplicate of Civic. Irrelevant!!
As a complete package this is a home run. Well done Hyundai.

PASSAT CC, HONDA CIVIC, ASTON MARTIN, LEXUS (INTERIOR WISE) ORGY LED TO THE BIRTH OF THIS CAR.
Its interesting and will find its takers i feel. The previous Sonata (specially the pre facelift one) was a disaster and a step backwards in design and this one will be noticed for sure. Interesting to see how Honda, Nissan, Hyundai are getting edgy in terms of design and Toyota with its Camry has played it safe with a typical luxury car look.

Exactly what came to my mind! Hyundai has continued with it's fluidic design with a futuristic theme in mind, but the car's rear looks like the Honda Civic and the Volvo S90 have been cross-bred. This car has been launched keeping the premium consumer in mind, but most of those consumers prefer exclusivity, and would definitely not like this mashed-up design.

I generally support futuristic looks but this looks like a 'Blade Runner 2049' vehicle - need to see more pictures before I can comment on a likely purchase in 2020/21 :-)

I really like the styling of this car. Maybe it can again create a storm like the "YF" sonata did with it's styling back in 2011 and regain the market share it lost in North America. I don't think Hyundai would be bringing this car in India as they just weren't bothered with the marketing and Test drive vehicles with premium segment cars like Santa-fe and Sonata when they were being sold here which ultimately led to discontinuation. It'll take a lot of effort to resurrect the "Sonata" brand. I think it'll be better to sell it with a different name tag in India.

The car was a Chinese-spec Sonata in 2.0-litre petrol guise.

More worrying for future products is the dreadful ride quality of this early car – it’s a while since we’ve driven a new car that rode over all sorts of bumps so badly. Whether they were gentle road ripples, potholes, slightly raised drain covers or larger undulations, the Sonata would crash over the lot, constantly reminding you of the chassis’ shortcomings. Let’s hope this is a particular setting for this particular car – but it wasn’t the greatest introduction to this new tech.

Most probably it's a bad prototype vehicle. Because it's really really far fetched that a giant like Hyundai will commit this type of manufacturing error. We've seen this with GTO's review of the KUV300.
Not to mention that European Auto journalists have always been biased against Asian manufacturers and promoted European brands.

2020 Hyundai Sonata Turbo Debuts In Korea With 180 HP.

Under the hood of the sporty sedan is a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline unit with four cylinders and a peak power of 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts). As standard, it will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while optionally available will be an eight-speed automatic that will further optimize the Sonata’s “smooth and efficient throttle response.

If this is how all future cars will look, I should start getting used to public transport!

I think around 2006, I really liked Hyundai cars for the value and functionality the offered. But the Santro, Getz, first-gen Elantra, Merc-look-alike Sonata, The first gen Verna were all either quirky or dull to look at. But starting with the i10, i20, they really improved a lot, and the fluidic Verna really transformed the brand's perception. But now again, I think Hyundai has lost the plot and is taking a huge gamble with the designs. It would be hard to put my money on something that looks like this - even if it is a well-sorted car.
