I dont know what's Hyundai's obsession with useless curves. The one running along the side like a wave is pathetic.

Sure looks good, going by the pics from China. It may resemble other cars, but it does look hot!
The Elantra that was phased out in India was one of the worst looking cars in that segment, though it had great features.

Hyundai has managed to "ïnspirationally" take bits and pieces from best sellers and create an original design. Ever wonder how the Korean manufacturers(beating comfortably by the Chinese) have fast and cheap design turnarounds. Here you go..

Long story short, this looks much better than the current model, cleaner styling. Hope this lands up quicly in India plonked with the current CRDI and it should hopefully get some decent momentum...

The Chinese version is slightly different from the one sold in the middle east. It has a nicer looking front end. The grille and head/fog lamp combo give it a sharper look. Hope we get the oriental Elantra.

The present Sonata took cues from Audi, Camry and Honda ( all of that time when sonata was developed ).
This car takes it from civic and Corolla.
The original Hyundai design would have been appreciated. this is shameless copy.

Front from Civic and rear from toyota corolla.

Copy or not, we get a civic and a toyota for the price of a Hyundai!

One thing about Hyundai is that these guys really work hard in bringing out VFM cars to the market. And I'm not saying this because I own a Hyundai.

Even when it comes to copying, it is not easy to copy some designs. This is where these guys excel.

Then think of the people who put real hardwork to come up with original designs. And then they are just stolen by people like Hyundai. Its down to earth bad.

And if copying were not that easy, then why cant they come with a new original design. Elantra is a high volume product and they must spend money to come up with the original designs and not copying.

Regarding the mystery cars: one is civic and the other is Passat.

Wonder where does our new Honda Accord and Skoda Fabia stand against the likes of BMW of Suzuki, do you actually call them ORIGINAL design? I guess not.

I don't see any resemblance of Civic-Corolla upfront or behind.

I think its time for us to change our perception about understanding car designs.

The design resemblance is there and the rear looks like it is straight away plucked from Corolla. The curves do nothing good here.

Skoda is not the only one to copy super successful Swift's design.

How can a Korean manufacturer owned by Hyundai be far behind:
Kia Soul also copies this design, though less than Fabia.

Sir,

One cant copy designs just like that. There will be some subtle difference to differentiate the two cars made by different manufacuters.

Design is a very complicated subject and it is not easy to design something when there is a proven product with a similar specification available.

What guys do in the software coding industry by copying common codes and pasting it into their software. A similar thing happens in design too.

Ofcourse all this is done to contain costs of design as well as manufacture.

Also, Original designs have to be accepted by the market and that is a long process. An easier option is to copy a popular design and give it at a accepted market price.
