Re: Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV

When they first announced a Rush successor that was going to rival the Jimmy. excitement HIGH. The present Rush is good, in a Pajero sport kinda way, but it still felt like a Daihatsu product. A Jimmy rival, like the previous Rush with proper 4x4. Mahn...

Then news of it being FWD/AWD and having a 1.0l turbo with sub 100bhp . excitement MEDIUM. Another run of the mill crossover, but looks tailor-made for India.

Then at last comes the news that Toyota-Maruti is going to tweak it by increasing the length, plonking in the 1.5 mild hybrid and placing it in Creta segment. excitement LOW.

But to be frank, even if they don't load it with crowd pleasing features, this thing is going to rock the market, cementing Maruti's position, giving Toyota undreamt of volumes and giving Hyundai/Kia nightmares.

my wishlist?
Either give it a full blown proper hybrid.

Or put in the 1.6mjd and AWD system for the top variant.

Raize SUV likely to spawn Toyota and Maruti’s Creta rival.

Re: Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV

I’m smittened by its looks honestly. Well-rounded package from Toyota. Hope they bring it to India. Attaching some pics from WhatsApp X roaders group. In its segment, I’m sure it will have the best quality interiors.

It does remind me of Brezza from few angles - especially the front upfront fascia that’s bold and straight like Brezza & XUV300.

Re: Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV

The new images show off the SUV from the exterior as well as the interior. Looks like top variants get digital instrument cluster and auto aircon, but lower variants will come with manual aircon and instrument cluster will have analog dials.

Toyota receives orders for approximately 32,000 new compact Suv "Rise" in one month after launch. That translates to ~ 8 times the monthly sales target of 4100 units.

Indonesia: Toyota Raize gets a GR Sport variant

Toyota has launched the 2021 Raize in the Indonesian market. The crossover now comes in GR Sport trim as well.

re: Indonesia: Toyota Raize gets a GR Sport variant

First look and it is hard to not see the likeness of the Brezza/Urban Cruiser in this car. I think the body kit has added a bit too much bars, beams, and lines to already busy body panels. And all such design elements seem crowded around the lower ends of the car.
However, the interiors look classy and sorted.

Wasn't Toyota planning to bring this to India as a competitor to the Creta and Seltos?

re: Indonesia: Toyota Raize gets a GR Sport variant

I was actually looking forward to this car before zeroing on the XUV300. While the features look very tempting, the power figures look very ordinary. From the features, it looks to be in the Creta segment and from the power figures, it looks like a sub 4m crossover. Looks stunning though.

Re: Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV

Toyota Raize now available with entry-level 1.2L NA engine in Indonesia – 5MT and CVT

Initially, it was only the 1.0T that was available, but the 1.2 litre three-cylinder NA engine now joins the line-up.

Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV-toyotaraize1.2gindonesia.jpg

Quote:
The new WA-VE 1.2L with DOHC and Dual VVT-i makes 88 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4,500 rpm – that’s 10 PS and 27 Nm less than the 1.0T, but the turbo engine produces its 140 Nm max torque from 2,400 to 4,000 rpm for an acceleration advantage. A CVT automatic gearbox is available alongside a five-speed manual; the latter is exclusive to the Indonesian market.

Re: Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV

Toyota Raize launched with a new engine and Hybrid system developed by Daihatsu.

Hybrid Models with the new 1.2L engines gives a fuel consumption of 28.0km / L, which is the highest level of fuel efficiency in the compact SUV class.

Newly developed 3-cylinder 1.2-liter engine:

Quote:
The newly developed 3-cylinder 1.2-liter engine is available in two types: the base "WA-VE" type and the "WA-VEX" type optimized for hybrids. Newly developed with a focus on power performance, fuel efficiency, lightweight compactness, and quietness, "high tumble straight port & thin valve seat", "dual injector & low penetration spray", "cooled EGR", "two-system cooling system (gasoline model only)" ) ”Is adopted.
Specifically, by adopting a high tumble straight port and a thin valve seat, high-speed combustion is realized and knocking resistance is improved to efficiently convert combustion energy into power. The combustion time has been reduced by about 25% compared to the conventional 1.0-liter turbo engine. In addition, it burns all at once from ignition to combustion. In addition, the adoption of dual ports and low penetration spray promoted the atomization of fuel, and reduced the adhesion to ports and valves to promote combustion and clean the combustion gas.

Only the gasoline model uses a two-system cooling system to control the water flow in the cylinder block and promote warm-up. By performing more efficient heat management, fuel efficiency and exhaust performance have been improved.
Quote:
With these new technologies, we succeeded in significantly increasing the torque of the gasoline model. Compared to the current 1.0-liter turbo engine, the torque increase at low engine speeds is large, and powerful and smooth acceleration is achieved in the low speed range, making it easy to drive and handle
Quote:
the hybrid model has better start acceleration, and it is powerful at once from the moment you step on the accelerator. Demonstrate. In terms of the acceleration reached in a certain period of time, the acceleration was about twice that of the conventional one.

Operability is also taken into consideration, and the "smart pedal" can accelerate and decelerate with just the accelerator, and speed control is possible without stepping on the pedal, so frequent acceleration and deceleration during traffic jams, curves, and roads with many ups and downs. Contributes to reducing driver operation in scenes where By leaving creep running at low speeds, consideration is given to ease of handling when driving slowly or when parking.

Quiet performance has also been enhanced, enabling quiet driving without engine noise in the range up to medium and low speeds where the vehicle can be driven without running the engine

Toyota is likely to bring this technology to the cars being developed jointly with Suzuki for the Indian Market.

Looks quite good. Toyota should launch this in India with the same engine and transmission option that they had in Yaris. Should sell in reasonable numbers.

Re: Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV

The 2022 Toyota Raize Is Safer For Adults In A Crash Than The All-New Honda Civic.

Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV-2021peroduaativa1.0lturboxaseanncap2.jpg

Raize: Toyota's sub-4m Compact SUV-1.jpg

-The Toyota Raize scored a five-star safety rating at the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program or ASEAN NCAP.

- Tested as the Perodua Ativa, its name for the Malaysian market, the Raize scored perfect despite being tested under the tougher 2021-2025 protocols.

-The Raize/Ativa tested at the ASEAN NCAP is the 1.0 Turbo CVT.It carries the same gamut of 6 SRS airbags as well as a platform constructed of lightweight high-strength steel.

Quote:
Still, despite the lack of driver assist technologies for the Philippine market Raize, the ASEAN NCAP did give it full marks for its blind spot detection system which can detect a motorcyclist about 10 meters behind the vehicle traveling within three meters to either the left or right side. This gave the Raize an 8 out of 16 in Motorcyclist Safety.

All in all, the Raize still managed an 83.40 out of 100 percent rating. Even when discounting the lack of AEB, LDW, and LKA, it’s still enough for a 74.84 out of 100—enough for a 4-star rating.
