Bugatti's most powerful supercar yet, the 1600 BHP Centodieci

If you couldn't get your hands on the one-off production run Bugatti La Voiture Noire you might want to know that there was a chance to own another more powerful car being built by Bugatti and that is also sold out.

The Bugatti Centodieci was unveiled by Bugatti yesterday is the most powerful supercar yet at 1600 bhp and there would only be a production run of just 10 cars. At $9 million a pop, it's not as expensive as the La Voiture but more powerful though.

The Centodieci pays homage to the Bugatti EB110 built in the 1990s. "With the Centodieci, we pay homage to the EB110 super sports car which was built in the 1990s and is very much a part of our tradition-steeped history," says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. "With the EB110, Bugatti catapulted itself to the top of the automotive world once again after 1956 with a new model."

re: Bugatti's most powerful supercar yet, the 1600 BHP Centodieci

Just looked at who owned Bugatti and it turned out to be Volkswagen which is fitting because looking at low end of the spectrum you've got the Polo getting a new edition every other month and then at the top end you've got the Chiron getting a new edition every so often. Regardless it looks like a mean piece of kit. 10/10 Would buy (If only I could amirite )

Wow!! That is almost 50% of the La Voiture Noire. But then the latter was limited to just 1 initially and 2 bespoke models every year but the Centodieci is having a production run of 10 cars.
Not everyday you get to pay only 9 million $ for a car with more power compared to a 18 million car in Bugatti land.
In someones book , that is value for money.

Everyone wants to have a BBQ grill on the front, but Bugatti has decided to shrink their grill.

Are they not getting anything new though, base Veyron is probably as old as our VW Polo

P.S : Frontend looks like famous Smudge cat

Bugatti probably is one premium manufacturer who have their latest car with a smaller grille than their previous model. I've not been a fan of Bugatti design language but the Bugatti Centodieci looks really good.

I think Bugatti nailed the design with the Chiron. Mature and menacing. It should age much better than the Veyron. Now if they could only do sometihing about that stubby mouse hole of a grill.

re: Bugatti's most powerful supercar yet, the 1600 BHP Centodieci

Modern Supercar styling is perhaps lead by Lamborghini Miura, followed through in every following Lamborghini, the more Bugatti tries to look sharp, the more it comes closer to Lamborghini, say the Veneno for instance. Regardless this must have sold out even before the news came out. The non reference to classic EB110 wheels was a lost opportunity for Bugatti, they were beautiful.

Bugatti however is bringing back the charm of coach built custom powerful personal cars in the modern era, a true luxury brand.

re: Bugatti's most powerful supercar yet, the 1600 BHP Centodieci

When you have a production run of 1 or 10, the launch is slightly different from say, a Wagon R.

The potential buyer of the one-off or even the 10 cars would be held in confidence at various phases of the production run including the design. It would be clinicked at various stages so that the intentions of the designers are not too much at loggerheads with the buyer.

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. So, if the car looks like a wild boar or a hyena, you could rest assured that the guy paying 18 big ones wants it like that.

They couldn't care less if anyone else has a differing point of view.

Re: Bugatti's most powerful supercar yet, the 1600 BHP Centodieci

I had to google the specification to check if this is ICE powered car or some jet propelled one off monstrosity. At 1600 hp, we are getting close to diesel / electric locomotives like the one used in railways. First gen WDM -1 locos produced approx 1950hp and hauled like 10 coaches.

Is it street legal or only for the tracks?.

Bugatti tries to have massive margins for safety and realiability. That's why their 8L quad-turbo W16 produces "only" 1500PS (1600PS in the Centodieci). Compare that to the 5L twin-turbo V8 in the Koenigseggs, which, in the Jesko, say, has a target power output of 1280PS (on gasoline; 1600PS on E85 biofuel).

My point being that Bugatti could actually get still more power from their engine if they choose to.

The base car is not a Veyron; it is the Chiron, which is the new Bugatti. The Veyron has been discontinued.

They have to earn back the money they paid in fines for VW's Dieselgate.

So if the Chiron is limited to 500 cars & if the next 100 they launch in separate 5 different limited editions based on the Chiron & charge 2 or 3 times the Chiron & still be able to get sold out on announcement, before arrival it surely is good, highly profitable business for them.

The owner of the $18 million Bugatti La Voiture Noire is Ferdinand Piech, former Chairman of the Volkswagen Group.
