Tesla worth as much as Ford and GM combined!

This speaks tremendously about a) how Musk's Tesla is winning at playing the disruptor in the automotive world, b) how terribly GM and Ford, two of the largest and oldest manufacturers, along with other legacy firms, have squandered their positions and now have no solid long-term vision/strategy.

First it was the Tesla Model 3 outselling most of BMW's portfolio combined.

Not surprising at all! Tesla has come a long way to go from a Niche to mainstream (at least in the US), and I can see them only growing.
I believe their vision is very similar to how their cars look – clear, functional and minimal.

It will be interesting to see how Ford pulls off the Mustang Mach-E project.

GM and Ford had already taken a dumb decision to discontinue it's sedan and hatchback offerings and sell only SUVs, which they have been very slow in replacing them with new offerings.

American buyers are no more loyal to them, especially since both firms have been slow in adapting to new trends, eg. small cars back in the 70s and 80s and now electrification. While they've had hybrid and electric vehicles, they aren't mass market. Hopefully this is a wake-up call for both of them.

Tesla, on the other hand, in little over a decade has successfully made mass market electric vehicles for the average buyer. Funny, how a 10 year old car company can beat to giants with over a century of experience in making cars.
