Just wondering what tyre the car was running as the Veyron needed special tyres to do 250 mph and Bugatti would charge you $ 100,000 for a set of four as the tyres were glued to the rim and if you could find a authorised Bugatti dealer to glue the tyres then still it would cost $ 35,000 for the tyres

Here is the story behind SSC. SSC was a small company located in washington. The company was founded in 1997, and they started making a supercar called the Ultimate Aero. The car made a world record going 256mph in 2007, although it was mostly unknown. The driver was 71 years old, and he wore no helmet. His name was Chuck Bigelow.
In 2011, SSC announced a new car, called the TUATARA as a concept. After few years, no news were coming from the company. One of few SSC fans thought the company was dead, but SSC was not. They again came back showing there newest 2018 SSC Tuatara. Many people underestimated the car, saying it was just a cheap car that would fail. The company later announced the 2020 TUATARA, that officially began production. Now here we are, seeing the accomplished goal. GREAT JOB SSC.

Thats one hell of a machine. I guess these companies work for the passion and love for the speed.
I just cant imagine how it would feel to drive at such manic speeds. Kudos to the engineers.

Well these are probably multi million dollar cars. I'm sure they can recoup the development costs and make a decent peofit if they can sell a few hundred copies to some wealthy people who collect cars

They may as well could have made it driverless for this run and spared the driver. Little steering input, empty road.

I don't think at those speeds, you can give any input to the steering at all. Also apart from pride and making news, honestly even people who buy such an expensive car won't be driving it at that too speed more than a few times in its entire ownership.

Also, since the car is all brand new it does this speed. By the time it has clocked a few thousand kilometres, I think the parts will wear and reduce top speed anyway.

The video made it look so straight-forward too. It looked like the driver took it easy till 200mph before giving it the proverbial 'beans'.
The way it went from 200-300mph is insane. Most cars would take more time getting from 80-120.

I wonder where this will end though, some small shop who even many enthusiasts hear about rarely (like the last time the aero broke Veyron's speed record) is able to put together a rocket like this.
Let's see how soon Bugatti makes a special edition Chiron to break this record.

WOW this has to be the best video I have seen this year. Just watching it gets me so excited the way it goes from 320kph to 420kph is nearly as quick as a Polo GT TSI does 0-100 and the way it goes from 400kph to 500kph is still quicker than it takes my WagonR to go from 0-100 ooff and just imagine the driver taking one hand off the wheel at 300kph to celebrate. What a thrilling experience it must be.

Holy cow! Talk about a comeback!
I was in eighth grade when this car was first unveiled back in 2011, with claims of massive horsepower figures and seemingly impossible top speeds, it's vengeful eyes fixed on the Super Sport....and then kinda fell silent. No announcements regarding its launch, no top speed runs...I assumed that the company fell under, or the project would be silently axed or something, and when Koenigsegg reigned supreme, SSC seemingly vanished from public memory.

Better late than never, I guess. It's nearly a decade old now, but still looks other-worldly. Well done, Americans.

An unknown (lesser known?) car maker making a car, a fast car and achieving 500+kmph, is something which is not a joke. By looking at POV and the way car deals with that crazy speed on road is really commendable. Yes, I know, the camera does some video image stabilisation and all, but still, the way the driver seems to be sitting as if it is going at 60+kmph, for me personally, it is not a small feat! Kudos.
