Old Supra owners can now get spare parts for their cars directly from Toyota

Last year, Toyota announced the launch of its GR Heritage Parts Project, aimed at offering OEM spare parts for the A70 and A80 generation Supra models. At the time of launch, however, the project only had a limited number of parts on offer.

Now, the company has announced that they will be expanding their catalogue to include more spare parts for its older Supra models. Toyota will now manufacture a number of spare OEM parts for its A70 (1986 - 1993) and A80 (1993 - 2002) Supra models. The entire project will further be overseen by the brand's motorsport division, Gazoo Racing. The parts will be available on sale in Japan, North America, Europe and a few other global markets as well.

The parts for the A70 Supra include the driveshaft, door handles, front & rear emblem, clutch master cylinder, brake hoses, and side protection moldings; among others. Similarly, Toyota also offers parts such as front bumper covers, brake boosters, headlamps and oxygen sensors for its A80 Supra.

Customers can request the production of a specific part as well. Toyota will then decide on the production of that specific part, based on the number of requests. The carmaker is also said to be open to producing parts for other models, in case there is a good demand.

Re: Old Supra owners can now get spare parts for their cars directly from Toyota

Many manufacturers are doing this as part of their "Heritage" car programs. I don't think this will be very useful for all owners as the parts would be much more costly and then there's the issue of the aftermarket, especially for the A80. This is more of a publicity stunt and will only help people who are looking to fully restore their car to factory condition.

Re: Old Supra owners can now get spare parts for their cars directly from Toyota

The Supra, especially the A80 is the last car one would find in stock. Most are usually powered up or modified heavily. This would give a chance for purists to take it back to stock and how the car felt on day one. What would have been even better would be Toyota manufacturing a limited set of the original cars That would sell out seconds within the announcement .

Anyways nice to see manufacturers keeping an eye on their past as well as moving forward. I think Honda does the same for it's S2000. The A80 is one of those cars that has heavily benefited from being in the Fast and Furious movies and has made the cars worth a fortune and worthy of being in a collection.

Re: Old Supra owners can now get spare parts for their cars directly from Toyota

Toyota is a bit late to the party, but that has been their way of adopting anything new in the market by observing and perfecting over time.

Nissan had done the same few years back for the Skyline (Nissan is resuming official production of Skyline spares). Mercedes has the same for their classic cars. Jaguar launched a toolkit (Jaguar re-launches original E-type toolkit) for the original E as well. Its actually a win for all. Owners get original parts. Company makes some additional revenue in these difficult times. And the cars hold their value well in the future.

Let's hope the prices to be sensible as the aftermarket, especially in developed nations, is huge.
