Stories Behind the Car names.

Dear all,

i wanted to share and gain knowledge behind some of the best names in the car industry and the legends that inspired them.

Let me start with the most obvious :

1) Enzo Ferrari : Actually the f60, but named after the legend Mr. Enzo Ferrari.
2) Dino Ferrari : The 246 GT & GTS. Named after the son of Mr. Enzo.
3) (My Personal Fav) : Lamborghini Murcielago: Named after a bull that faught valiently. He was pardoned (very rarely are bulls pardonend)

After a lot of scratching i could come up with these 3 only, but am sure i have many more in my kitty. I will be addind them soon.

Cheers.

Yeah, but Indica is also the Greek word for India, if you remember your history. Megasthenes?

J.C and K.C Mahindra

aaaah... all these car names sound cool. May be its because these names are foreign to us and that we got used to associating that name with a car.
Then it got me thinking, will a Popat Lal 'Pagal Bhains' ever sound as cool as a Lamborghini Murciellago or a Ford Mustang to the indian ears?

From the wikipedia:-

"Karl Benz is credited as the inventor of the first 'true' automobile (patented in 1886) since Daimler's was a horse carriage with an engine, whereas Benz' had a chassis designed from scratch. " ...

"DMG was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and his partner Wilhelm Maybach in 1890, but Daimler died in 1900 and Maybach left DMG in 1907, by which time the two companies were rivals. "
