Re: Next-gen BMW 5 Series will get all-electric variant & an electric M Performance version

Nope. Absolutely not. Won't touch it even with a barge pole (not that I can afford a new 5 series anyway).

The E39, E60, G30 and F10 are still the best looking iterations of the 5 series and seeing the direction BMW has decided to take, the ranking will remain for a long time to come.

My friends and I think that Audi is the only one in the big 3 whose making nice looking cars (albeit FWD) with BMW going for ugly pro max and Mercedes making cars for Hyundai.

Re: Next-gen BMW 5 Series will get all-electric variant & an electric M Performance version

I'm starting to wonder if team bhp will always adore the 5 series akin to a cult (:

I understand that looks are subjective, but this is oh so ugly, it's difficult to look at. That front end is kicking my guts, eyes and brain. I'm pretty sure this 2 series esque front was hated on the 2 series but suddenly people like it on the 5 series?!

BMW has lost it's sense of design and i think it is universally accepted at this point. The designs really peaked during the f10 generation. That and the e60 inspite of the polarizing looks very genre defining and gorgeous to look at. The latest 7 series and 5 series look ridiculous. Imagine paying 85L to go to an occasion in a car that looks like a 4th grader drew the front end with a geometry box. I understand that they're trying something with their electric division, but merc has handled it's funkiness with far more elegance like in the eqs.

Looks are subjective, but members of this forum really need to ignore the badge and take a look at that front end for a minute. It might be an absolute stunner on the inside, but people will only remember it as that weird looking car that that person owned.

Re: Next-gen BMW 5 Series will get all-electric variant & an electric M Performance version

Saw the G60 5 series in Munich Airport some days ago and spent some time observing the car. The sharp cut lines and the edgy design theme have really caught my attention. So much so that I didn't have any complaints about the oddly shaped kidney grille.

I really like the current gen styling language. It kinda hides the dimensions and visually looks tad smaller than the outgoing model.

I'm sure the same amount of time with a 2023 E class wouldn't make it seem prettier let alone the EQE.

Yet to see the G60 5 series on the road but I'm sure it'll look great.

Re: Next-gen BMW 5 Series will get all-electric variant & an electric M Performance version

I’d love it if BMW made a simply designed driver’s car without all the gimmicky crap throughout the design. Make it minimalist with a bulletproof engine and a simple comfortable interior. Give it a reasonable hp (350) and make it engaging to drive with BMW’s older road feel. Get rid of all the unnecessary tech features. Offer it with a 6-speed manual and also reliable automatic. That’s what I want. Unfortunately, I know that's the antithesis of the modern BMW. But I would still prefer the muscular f10 over all generations.
