Toyota Yaris Cross - Global Vs ASEAN

Toyota Indonesia claims the consumption of the Yaris Cross Hybrid reaches 30 kilometers per liter, this is more economical than the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid which is claimed to be 21 kilometers per liter.

The All-New Yaris Cross is equipped with a choice of hybrid engines accompanied by gasoline engine options, both of which have a capacity of 1,500 cc 4 cylinders.

In the hybrid engine option, Toyota uses a full hybrid system mated to a Lithium-ion type battery with a capacity of 0.7 kWh.

The use of this type of battery is the first because previously Toyota used nickel batteries in every hybrid car marketed domestically, including the latest model Innova Zenix Hybrid.

The placement of the hybrid battery under the rear passenger seat makes it not to the extent of reducing the luggage capacity or passenger cabin. The selection of positions below deck also contributes to improving the handling of the car and helps lower the center of gravity of the vehicle so that the car is more fun to drive.

But why do we have Hyryder to take on Creta and ASEAN have a new car to take on Creta ? Or is it that Hyryder is tailormade for Indian Safety regulations or lack of them and Yaris Cross is for countries with more stringent regulations.

TOYOTA Yaris Cross based on the DNGA platform spied on tests in Brazil.

It is speculated that it will be launched in Brazil in the second half of 2024, using a new 1.5 flex naturally aspirated engine. In addition to the regular version, this engine will also have a hybrid variant.
