"Loyalty is determined when a household that owns a new vehicle returns to market and acquires another new vehicle of the same make, model or manufacturer. The newly acquired vehicle may be either a replacement or an addition to the household fleet."

"This is true for Tesla in even the Australian context when it goes to repeat customer ownership.
We have seen it here in Australia with timings in Tesla Model 3 listings. According to carloop‘s used Tesla tracker, the used Model 3 listings increased sharply on the back of the new Tesla Model Y launch back in July 2022. "

My understanding is as below, - Household has a Model 3 and adds a new Model Y to their garage: Tesla (the company), and Model Y (the model) get loyalty points.
- Household has a Model 3 and replaces it with a new Model Y: Tesla (the company) and Model Y (the model) get loyalty points.
That'll probably explain it. Also, I have seen a number of people exchanging their Model 3 for a Model Y. Too easy with 3-year leases anyways. Much like moving from an iPhone 12 to iPhone 14 for example.
Coming to the Range Rover, I'm not surprised. Someone else said it better,
"Range Rover Velar, Discovery, and Range Rover Evoque all won Model-Level Residual Value Awards for 2023 from the J.D. Power Awards - meaning they are the most likely vehicles to hold the highest percentage of their MSRP value after three years. But you need to take the good with the bad... In what has become a self-deprecating running joke among passionate Land Rover owners, the brand has once again taken the bottom spot in the JD Power Dependability Study, with 273 issues per 100 vehicles, continuing a decades-long record of being at or near the bottom of the list.
The moral of it all? If you like your car, you’ll put up with a locked-up touchscreen or Bluetooth misconnect. Land Rover’s sales and backorder list suggest that plenty of people aren’t concerned about what JD Power says, as they remain one of the most desirable automotive marques."
Also, this characteristic isn't restricted to the rich. People have warmed up to two-generations of Thars which IMHO are WIP engineering products and certainly not cheap! |
