If Hyundai has done proper market research in India for this product they will know a Hatch will not sell for 7-8 lakhs in good numbers.

Well, in general if its expected to be 15% more than getz, then it would come to 6.5 for the normal engine option fully loaded.

So the 1.6L at 8.5Lacs i.e. 2Lacs more is not unimaginable!

There is no way that they will offer a 1.6L Diesel that makes 200 hp. BMW has with much technical effort (and expense) recently produced a 2L Twin Turbo Diesel that produces 201hp.

LoL, then in past Hyundai has been rumoured to use other animals instead of horses in their engines. Just that now-a-days they use so many of them that we don't feel the shortage of horses.

Why bring BMW into the picture? Hyundai's own 1.5L Verna unit gives 110bhp then how will this 1.6L give 200bhp? What magic have they worked in 100cc?!

I think we can now safely conclude that 200BHP i20 GTi remains a speculation

@amit, may be a twin turbo, with Pete's box from the factory?!!

At 8L, I'm not even getting my A/T today !! So pure numbers are enough to suggest this will never make it here. It'll be quite a crazy car though. Can the chassis really handle 200bhp out of a vodka-shot of a diesel engine like that? I have my doubts, considering it's not a very impressive handling car to begin with.

200bhp is a bit too optimistic. I think it'll be around 160 maybe.
Even if it's 150, expecting it to cost around 8L in India is asking a bit too much. Not that I wound't love to drive one, just that I don't think the manufacturers are ready to give us, not too much earning mortals too much power. We might just get corrupt.
