Re: Pics : The Sultan of Brunei's collection.

Information off the net.

The list of unique cars is really impressive, one would need to google alot to understand the history of these cars.

He is the owner of a Porsche 959, Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Diablo Jota, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Bugatti EB110, Bugatti Veyron (regular and Pur Sang edition), Maybach 62, Jaguar XJR-15 and six Dauer 962s. But that is not all. He also owns six Ferrari FX models, the original red show model of the Bentley Continental R, the only Porsche Carma, the only Koenigsegg Agera CC GT, two fully operational Ferrari Mythos concept cars, both of the Ferrari 456 GT Sedans, the only right hand drive Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR in the world, five McLaren F1s including both black LM models and three Cizeta-Moroder V16T cars, 10 out of 77 made Aston Martin One-77s, the only convertible Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, and the only Cicero BDB Maestro ever built.

The Secret Six - 6 custom made Ferraris for Prince of Brunei

There are billionaire playboys and then there are the kings.

And then there is the Sultan of Brunei.

He wanted a semi automatic Ferrari during the 90s. Only problem was the tech did not exist at the time. So what do you do?

You get the built. ONLY 6 Ferraris as per the brief. Today only 1 of those 6 exists. Here's a story of gluttony, petrolheads, embezzelment all in one. A great read.

Re: Pics : The Sultan of Brunei's collection

Imagine someone who would own not 1 or 2 F40’s but 11 and also 10 McLaren F1’s among the other huge collection of ridiculous cars.

Just saw these below pictures, which gives a glimpse of the mammoth collection of cars in Brunei and other parts of the world..

Few videos to watch if you want to know the specs of the Prince’s F40’s and Mclaren F1’s and how they were sourced.

Re: Pics : The Sultan of Brunei's collection

So technically we can say that the Sultan of Brunei is the primary reason why we have the Bentayga and the Cullinan. If you actually see the custom RR and Bentley SUV and compare it to their models today, the design has not changed much.

Coming back to the topic of the Sultan, does this collection / rooms still exist?

Yes, the rooms still exist and the family has been adding cars but not at the same rate as earlier.

Imagine someone who just buys the entire stock even the ones with limited edition. For eg the Bentley Sufacon which is one of 14 ever made (The Royals bought all of them). This particular one was part of their London fleet, which is considered to be well maintained as compared to the cars located in the collection rooms in Brunei and are not part of hundreds of cars of the same model.

Almost 80% of the cars in the collection were ordered by Sultan’s brother Prince Jefri and are managed by a dedicated team who decide which car stays gets abandoned or is sold off. The 1993 Bentley Sufacon from the London fleet was one of the few lucky ones to find a new home where they would be better looked after and driven. This one now resides in NZ

They also have 24 F1 race cars in the collection and most of them with their original race suits and pictures signed by Eddie Irvine, Frank Williams, Jean Todt and Schumacher among others during their visit to Brunei. The breakdown of cars is as below:

22 McLaren
1 Williams
1 Ferrari

I have seen that F50 and met the new owner many years ago. When he bought it, the car was basically like new except it needed a ton of work to replace all the hoses and seals as they had all rotted. It took about 6 months of work and multiple trips back to the dealership before it was reliable. It also did not have a chassis number.

I feel these two could be some showroom pictures. Way too many of the same model and that too in the same shade. I can count at least 10 of them and they are not exactly the rare/collectible type. Or maybe it is a large lot purchase aimed at giving away as gifts to friends/well wishers.
