Porsche did 300-391 in around 36 secs, 380-390 took 8 secs, so 390-400 will def be well over 8 secs. So the porsche actually gets slower as the speed rises.

It beats the Veyron from 200-300 amd 0-300 though.
380-390 took 8 seconds? Seemed to be a lot less than that Shan2nu!

Also, one should recognize the credit that the 9ff Turbo deserves. It was never designed to go anywhere close to 400 in the first place and with some crazy tuning and almost no modification to the body, it has managed to give the Veyron a slight complex!
The Veyron on the other hand was designed for the sole purpose of doing 400 and it's very, very slippery! So a few modifications to the body and I reckon the 9ff Turbo can take the Veyron from 300-390/400!

So looks like the Porsche and the Veyron are neck and neck then! However, the Veyron has the definite edge purely because it's a lot more stable and composed at that speed! Vibrations and sound are well in control!

911 (nine eleven not nine one one {I heard some friends speak}) was designed for speeds now this speed would not have crossed Butzi in 1959 while he made modest changes to 356.

Well done 9ff

But again, the whole idea for speed is for race day not everyday use. I do not know if the turbos will remain active at slow speeds. In a Carrera 4S the turbos are always activated even at slow speeds equating to no turbo lag , that is something I always found magical because after so many years and so many great companies trying have not reached that feat.

the biggest break-through Porsche made to eliminate turbo lag was the VTG , variable turbine geometry for petrol engines before that even the 996 Turbo had a little turbo lag.

With bigger turbo's you end up loosing time in the lower rev range so for street something like the 750Hp - 850Hp 9ff Gturbo would be perfect.

@Sn1p3r : Carrera 4s with turbo's ???

Yup, it takes 8 secs. Even though the Porsche has the same power as the Veyron, the lack of aerodynamics makes it diff to fight wind resistance at those speeds.

Oh yes, it reminds me of something, I had read about GT9 somewhere earlier that its developers claim it to accelerate from zero to 300 kmph covering a distance of just 870 meters.

Wow! Now that's some list! 9ff could probably the best tuner for Porsches and might also take the crown for being the best in the tuning business too! The list says it all I guess!

Thanks for the list Kinetic!

Oh yes that's probably the 9ff GT9-R that you're referring to! Brutal car that! But not a 'pure' and 'blue blooded' 911 that's for sure!

Sniper,

The new 997 II GT3 RS has a normally aspirated 3.8 liter flat six motor dishing out 450 horsepower. The older GT3 had a 3.6 six pot making 415 horsepower. In fact, Porsche haven't incorporated any form of forced induction into the GT3 series ever since they introduced it back in '99!

You're probably talking about the GT2 that is nothing but a stripped out, light weight version of the 911 Turbo!

I was wired with all that party. But I am a bit confused. There is a C4S turbo too, isn't?

Yes the VTG is a masterpiece, best of boxer six and V8 power.

This thread is getting popular.
I see Porsche waves flowing around kinetik as well!

@kinetic thanks for the info, i see Cayman all around the records. Make me proud!

@Suhaas and kinetik i'd love to have a 9ff or a TPC turbo in my Cayman S. Lets see if i ever get the time to do it.

@S1np3r there had never been a C4S turbo.

Sniper,

There has never been a Carrera with a Turbo that rolled out of a Porsche factory! But there was a race-spec '70s 911 Carrera RSR Turbo that raced round the Nurburgring! Wasn't a road car though!

And all 911 Turbos came with four wheel drive since the 993 was introduced in the '90s! The GT2 however, is turbocharged and rear-wheel driven only!
