Not really, the 5er GT is it's biggest competitor. The CLS seems a different segment with a focus on being a 4 door coupe for those who wanted a sport car like an SL but with comfortable seating for 4.

The 5er GT and the A7 were meant to combat the R class from Mercedes.

Audi is yet to develop something on the lines of the CLS, but BMW has and soon it will be in production. The GRAN COUPE.

R-class Benz is the 5erGT fighter (or vice versa). Both being tall and vannish. (personally I would touch either with a barge pole)

This one is low sleek and stylish. Even a Panamera fighter if you ask me (for those who like boodylicious cars)

But anyway, its all the mind of the customer.
