Re: Skoda Unveils VisionD

DRLs are a matter of safety, aesthetics came later on. In the US and in some parts of Europe, having your lights on is mandatory even during the day and some cars are fitted with automatic sensors to cater to these regulations. DRLs in addition to the normal headlamps is the product designed by the company to suit such requisites.

Re: Skoda Unveils VisionD

From 07 Feb 2011, DRLs are mandatory in EU and are required to be hardwired. My Fabia 1.6 manufactured in Jan 11 has DRL that don't go off unless headlights are switched on. Earlier there was a provision to switch them off but the dealer says it can't be done any more. Ofcourse DRL on Fabia are not as cute as those on Audi and it is quite embarrassing to have people point out that I have my lights on while driving in bright Indian daylight!

Skoda Rapid - the Vento challenger

Noticed this piece of information in Autocar India website (Link here)

Now, the Rapid looks very close to the Vision D concept. Now thats a very capable looking competition for the likes of Vento / City. I really liked the sharp looks of the car!

Interesting to know that Skoda, for the first time, will drop the notchback styling for a traditional boot

Re: Skoda Unveils VisionD

A news bit of this - from Autocar UK. It also mention about the arrival of the new Octavia (Laura for us) by end of 2012 / early 2013.

Amazing pictures, there was moment when my heart skipped a beat!

I'm speechless! I so hope this is the way Skoda's going to design its cars from here on.

Seriously, a design family based on this would offer a cracker of a competition to the remaining Euro-Japanese design families!
