Not completely true coz he used up a set of soft tyres in Q1 where everyone else ( except the Ferraris ) set their times on hard tyres. So the only advantage he has is that he can decide which tyre to start the race on. But I doubt he would start on the hard tyres since the hard tyres are too slow and don't last as long as they should, negating any advantage he could have by running long. I think the will start on the soft like everyone else.

Re: F1 2011 - Circuit De' Catalunya Spain

A good race.

Really shocking race pace displayed by RBR and Mclaren Mercedes. Its not a joke to lap every racer on the grid....

Michaels strategy for the qualifying paid off well, he finished a fantastic 6th, and thats the max possible result ever possible by the Mercedes GP car,

Time to rejig the dynamics of the car Mr Brawn. You cant run a car with All BRAWN and NO BRAIN..

Force India seems to have lost it this year....... No way, not at all showing any improvements.

Renault is just waiting for Kubica to come back, the car is good, Petrov and Heidfield are doing a good job, but looks like Kubica can do much better.

Great start by Alonso. Too bad Ferrari don't have a car good enough to zoom away once in the front. Hope still not lost! Hope they come up with something better the next time. Great race by Button and Hamilton! and (yawn) Vettel!

Re: F1 2011 - Circuit De' Catalunya Spain

Best Spanish race in ages. First it was Alonso muscling his way through the first corner, then the Redbulls coming back as they do and finally McLaren proving that they have closed the gap on Redbull by finishing less than a second behind Vettel. Might have been slightly different had Redbull had full use of their KERS system. But, good to see them fighting it out on a supposedly dull track!

Ferrari will have to take a decision on Massa very soon. They cannot afford to have their second driver racing with the midfield teams, however ineffective that Ferrari is right now.

Re: F1 2011 - Circuit De' Catalunya Spain

Alonso's first set of hard tyres blistered, resulting in his nursing the second set. He might not have finished higher, but would not have been lapped by n the front two.

Battle is between RB and McLaren this year. That is however with RB KERS not yet reliable, otherwise RB might have been lapping everyone else.

Re: F1 2011 - Circuit De' Catalunya Spain

Awesome race, especially at the top. The fight for 1st and 2nd spot was one of the best I have seen in recent times. Even though Vettel won the race, I think it was really a good one for McLaren. Hamilton showed his class, and Jenson did really well to finish 3rd.

Hallmark of the race was how Red Bulls and Mclaren used KERS and DRS to their maximim advantage.

Re: F1 2011 - Circuit De' Catalunya Spain

Just loved the final 10 laps - the fight between Vettel and Hamilton is simple epic material!!

Disappointing Force India again. The 'improvements' they keep talking about doesnt seem to help at all. Someone somewhere is not doing somethings right with the Force India crew. Again, Paul Di seems to be driving much better than Sutil taking the last couple of races into consideration.
Next is Monaco, usually a bad place for Force India due to various reasons. Not much hope is there?

Re: F1 2011 - Circuit De' Catalunya Spain

Schumi and Alonso are one of the greatest F1 drivers. They are very good in climbing the order in the start of the races. They proved it yet again in the Spanish GP.

Very Very eager to see MGP-W02 competing in the front row, Lewis and Seb fighting with Schumi for P1.....Schumacher will show what he is capable of,when MGP-W02 is proving the pace.

Guys, Guys

Lets not draw Alonso in parallel with Schumi

C'mon... Alonso has not even achieved 50% of what the Legend has done.

But whats shocking to see . RBR and Mclaren lapped every one on the Grid.....

I really cannot understand how these 2 teams can be so drastically faster than the others.

I am hoping Mr Mallya gets over his IPL and concentrates on F1. Presently Force India is going NOWHERE.. The team seems to be totally clueless.

Stats never paint a true picture.

Vettel has won 4 race wins this yr. Alonso - none.
Does that define the difference in their individual racing abilities? Not by a long shot.

Button and Hamilton have won a WDC each.. would you rate them as being equal?
Button will never get the better of Hamilton.

Similarly, MS and FA.

Spot on. Stats can be used to prove anything.

Stats aren't the only criteria. If so, anyone who looked at numbers would be an expert on F1. What about those like us who have watched the sport for years together then?

Heres a stat for you.
Schumacher has led 4741 laps out of 15347 he has driven. That is 30.89%
Marcus Winkelhock has led 6 out of 13 laps he has driven. That is 46.15%

Does that mean Winkelhock is a 15% better driver than Schumacher??!!
