No, he was never a replacement for Ayrton, he cried because he knew how it felt to surpass the record of the greatest driver in the history of F1. He had a lot of on track battle with Ayrton, in his early years. Still, Schumi's emotion took the better of him. Just clearing your mind about the whole scenario.
