Re: 2014 Monaco GP - Circuit de Monaco - Race Thread

Lewis really shot himself in the foot with the "I'm hungrier than Rosberg because I wasn't born rich" comments. He'd better let his driving do the talking. As a Ham fan, I'm greatly disappointed he didn't get pole.

EDIT: WOW. That body language between Nico & Lewis after parking the cars in parc ferme, now that's interesting !

Hmmm..
Rosberg prevents Hamilton from setting final lap. Will have extensive look at replays to see if he pulled his version of MSCs Rascasse stunt: |.

An interesting qualification as usual, lots of close call/shaves on many corners. I love the view from onboard camera for this circuit.
Vettel and Kimi couldn't snatch the position from their team mates whilst Rosberg could do it this time around from Lewis.
Rosberg looks delighted with Pole Position today. It's very difficult to overtake here in Monaco, making Pole Position very important and needless to say Rosberg's mistake on last flying lap save his pole position though.
Below are the driver standings from Q3.
1 Rosberg, 2 Hamilton, 3 Ricciardo, 4 Vettel, 5 Alonso, 6 Raikkonen, 7 Vergne, 8 Magnussen, 9 Kvyat, 10 Perez .
Cheers!

Re: 2014 Monaco GP - Circuit de Monaco - Race Thread

Like Brundle said, a hollow pole.

That mistake from Rosberg took the fun away in the final moments. It shouldn't have been a yellow. But then its easy to pass judgement watching slow motion.

I have a feeling we will have a wet start tomorrow.

Edit:
Very impressed by Ricciardo and Kvyat today. Apparently, it is the first ever outing for young Russian. Awesome!

Man! Lewis looks mighty pissed during conference and interview. He said he was a couple of tenths up on that last lap. And Lewis is confident he can make it up during the race.

It seems a few team principals have claimed Rosberg's stunt was deliberate ? His lap looked really awkward even before if you look at the racing line he chose.

Nico what have u done? Good people do bad things when they are under pressure.. I think he realizes that Lewis is just that tiny but quicker. Damn shame.. this will stay with him for his entire career. And it's worse that he's German.

I think the team should try to ease the tension between the drivers. Its hard to be friends with one you compete but they don't need relations turning sour and hurting the team too.
Lewis needs to sort things out and both need to move on. Let his driving do the talking, oh never mind the media trying to pry that controversial statement for the headlines.

That they will. Natalie from Sky was trying her best to get something out of Lewis during the interview after Q3. Lewis was intense but collected. She couldn't get much out of him.

Lewis will feel betrayed as he and Nico were neck and neck during S1 during that aborted lap and he owns S3. The run up to the corner will be intense tomorrow if its dry.

Re: 2014 Monaco GP - Circuit de Monaco - Race Thread

Stewards are investigating the Rosberg's incident. Apparently, Rosberg reversed back into the track when Lewis was approaching which ensured the yellows stayed and Lewis had to back off. He could be penalized for reversing back into the track and impeding others since he was no longer on a flying lap while everyone else was.

Other incidents under investigation:
MAS-ERI : collision
PER-GUT : impeding
MAL-KVY : impeding

So Keke, will you now call your son as "cheap cheat" and ask him to retire?

Back to the Quali.. wasnt that just a phenomenal lap from Alonso. 7 tenths up on Kimi.
Most drivers are complaining that they cant get the tires to working temperature.

I think we are all in for a 1 stop.. barring rain.

Update on investigations:

ROS - No Further Action
ERI - 2 penalty points + start from pit lane
KVY - Reprimand

No mention of PER-GUT incident in the reports. So it is likely to be no further action.

Lewis to deal with Rosberg like Senna handled Prost. Is he saying that he will try to kill his opponent by putting him to the wall?

No, I think simply win at all costs otherwise.

Doubt anyone can die in F1 nowadays if thrown into the wall with their safety cocoon. I look forward to this battle. Perhaps it'll be as good as the 2007 fight : D
