Re: 2014 Austrian GP - Red Bull Ring - Race Thread

Signs of Hamilton getting a little edgy perhaps? He just has to put his head down and do his job. The rest should take care of itself. He is quicker than Rosberg at the best of times and over the course of a season, things tend to even out.

Any other circuit I would have been quite sure of team orders, the 2nd Williams would have attempted to hold up traffic while his team mate build a lead, but here with mostly straights it seems it will be too risky..

In the Constructors, Williams can leap frog Force India (6 ahead) and Mclaren (19 ahead) this race. Looking ahead, Spa/Monza/Austin will be Williams strengths.

Must give credit to Pat Symonds..

One of the best qualifying sessions this year!
Hoping for an exciting race today!
Further controversy at mercedes as Rosberg has blamed Hamilton's spin as the reason for him finishing third! (link to this news)

Race lights out at 5:30 pm IST, though you'd want to catch the grid lineup at 5:15 onwards.

I've subscribed to Star Sports at http://www.starsports.com/ssplus/f1/index.html

Race commentary is from Sky Sports, though pre/post show is Star Sports (Alex Yoong/Paula Malai Ali).

My 3 month subscription to SS4 through my local cable provider expired just 2 days back. And again like last time, they are not able to start it back right away. They say it will take a few days.

I will be missing the race that's why. How can I subscribe to the above link?
How much do they charge?

Is there any other option to stream online?

Re: 2014 Austrian GP - Red Bull Ring - Race Thread

A very mixed up grid and we all know what that means come Sunday, a great race!

Glad for Williams on the front row, hope they can remain competent for the race. Given where they were during preseason, Williams really have underachieved so far.

And that turn 8 is going to be very tricky during the race today.

For the love of god, someone please explain to Mercedes the importance of doing fast pit stops!

5 seconds is an eternity, especially considering the fact that Williams can get a set of tires changed in 2.1 seconds!!

If the current pace continues, Rosberg is gonna increase his lead again. Sucks. Seems like both Mercedes still have the MGUK issue.

Another Mercedes 1-2! Almost thought that Lewis will cover Nico, but excellent drive indeed by the latter to hold the position.

Re: 2014 Austrian GP - Red Bull Ring - Race Thread

I am wondering why Lewis was losing almost a second to Nico on both pit stops.

The race started brightly due to the mixed grid and then faded off. Hamilton is slowly moving further away on points from Nico each race. He needs a win at Silverstone for sure.

I feel for Hamilton.
1.5 total he lost to rosberg in pit stops only?
He must be missing the mclaren days of 2.2 seconds.
Good fun, though. Vettel looks like he cashed in all his good luck chips over the past few years!

Re: 2014 Austrian GP - Red Bull Ring - Race Thread

Nice to see Mark Webber on the podium again. I'm sure he would have been amused to see all the bad luck sticking with the older member in RBR even after he left

Amazing start from Lewis to cover al the lost places in just a lap. He was a rocket off the grid. This just shows that they really can ignore qualifying and still win given their pace! Another driver that deserves special mention is Perez - another great recovery. Steady driving from Bottas, Rosberg and Alonso to hang on to their spots without any mistakes. Good job by Ricciardo to overtake Hulkenberg on the last lap in what would be among the worst weekend so far for RBR so far this season in terms of the pace.
