Additional Information

Formula 1 reaches Monaco this weekend. Most glamorous race of the season. Race organizers have decided to have grid girls despite the F1 management removing grid girls at the start of the season. Getting on to the championship. Two consecutive race wins for Hamilton meant that he is leading the driver championship by 17 point margin and Mercedes 1 - 2 finish in Spain meant Mercedes leading the constructor championship as well
Coming to the top 3 teams

Mercedes - They come into this race on the back of strong form in the last race but this track is way different from Spain and hasn't been Mercs forte in the last few years. There is lack of confidence which is reflecting in pre race press conferences as well.

Ferrari - They had a 1-2 finish here last season. They would be wanting to repeat the same. May be they find their form back as this track is very different from Spain

Redbull - They were really strong in the last sector in Spain. The twisty bit of the circuit so they are expected to strong this race. Daniel has the confidence that he can put the car on pole. They have taken a risk of selecting just 1 set of Supersofts and Ultrasofts. So they cannot risk ruining these sets.

"Underdog" Alonso would be wanting to surprise everyone with another stellar performance this race.

Lets see what Monaco GP has in store for us. Let the races begin.

Race and all other sessions will be telecast on Star Sport Select 2 HD/Star Sport Select 2

Monaco GP Free Practice 2

Formula 1: The 2018 Monaco Grand Prix-1527175066741.jpg

Nice lap by Hartley. Hope the Red Bulls can stay on the front row, should be fun.
Surprised no one crashed today, there was a pretty nasty crash in F2 Qualifying earlier.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Monaco Grand Prix

I thought practice is usually 2 sessions on Friday and followed by final session on Saturday before qualifying. Why is it on Thursday?

I just checked F1.com site. It says no practice at all on Friday. Seems strange. Is this the new norm or just an anomaly at Monaco?

Redbulls seem to have the setup to take the first row on this street circuit. Other than the glamour and hype, Monaco is not really a racing circuit. I hope it doesn't become a yawn fest. Barcelona was enough, its time to have some crazy racing again

This is always a Monaco tradition. The roads used are public roads. So they wish to block it for the least possible time!

The Monaco GP was traditionally staged on the weekend of Ascension Day, which is a public holiday in Monte Carlo.

Although the importance of the festival has waned over time, and no longer has a bearing on the GP's schedule, F1 still appears to respect the day off on Friday.

The Circuit de Monaco is made up completely of roads in the principality, which are mostly shut to the public over the race weekend.
This causes obstruction to both the native public and businesses, so reopening the track at certain times allows shops and hotels to replenish their stocks, as well as locals to travel at their will.

The roads are not completely opened on the Friday, as support races use the track in the morning.
However, it is common to see road cars and trucks take to the 'circuit' on Friday afternoons, as well as during the nights.

Very interesting. Star Sport covers all sessions on SS Select 2 except for the race itself which is going to be on SS2. In the beginning I forgot that there is a day gap between Practice 1,2 and 3 and qualification.

Mercedes brought some significant upgrades for Monaco GP-the Vortex generators on sidepods, changes to diffuser floor, cooling system and front suspension.

Red Bull are looking really good out there. It's a shame Max had that accident. Also the Toro Rosso boys looking really strong, hopefully they can make it to Q3.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Monaco Grand Prix

The Verstappen accident in FP3 looked very familiar. And it was, a replay of his crash in 2016.

Max would need to learn sooner than later that the race is on Sunday and there are no points for being quick/fastest on practice.

Monaco GP Qualifying final classification

Formula 1: The 2018 Monaco Grand Prix-1527348633780.jpg

A monster lap Daniel Ricciardo to take the pole-Hope to see him take the grand slam for this weekend topping all sessions.
Vettel puts in a good last lap to lock and push Hamilton out of the front row.
Max has his work cut out for tomorrow starting from the back and a five place grid penalty for changing the gearboxx(but it won't matter as he'll be starting from the back for not participating in the Qualifiers).

Truly says the status. Ric had been a clear 1st with a big gap, v especially in a short track!
