Re: MotoGP : The 2018 Dutch Grand Prix

That was fun. 30 sec earlier, Iannone was on pole, 30 sec later he ends up 9th. Marquez produced a lap to get him on pole, where as everybody in the train benefited. It was tricky, a mistake by one could have messed up everyone's. But they all went through, helped by others slipstream. The losers, Lorenzo, Iannone, Petrucci who had there good laps in clean air. Also Zarco, who lead the train.
Marquez, Crutchlow and Rossi starts top row. Pedrosa starts 18th.

What a race ! What a race ! It's almost cruel that a Formula 1 race to follow MotoGp. You have to see it to believe it. The 2.1 sec win by Marquez doesn't tell the story. Anybody who didn't see the race, watch the the full race highlight. It was as if watching a Moto3 race. Overtakes, overtakes and overtakes. 6 different lap leaders. Lorenzo charging from 10th to lead the first lap. Rins almost taking out Marquez. Rossi and Lorenzo almost crashing. 7 men into contention up until 5 laps to go. All the breathtaking amazing things happening.
Finally Marquez takes the win from Rins and Vinales.
Mind numbing!

Incredible race! Attention was always on leading group, haven't seen it in many races. So many touches, many recoveries and endless overtakes. By the time overtaking replays would finish positions would have changed.

Suzuki riders: I used to feel that both Iannone & Rins used to peak too early just to loose towards end of race. Today Rins showed consistency & took his chances.
Consistency of Vinales finally resulted in a podium finish.
Good to see Dovi in points after crashes in earlier races.

The best race of 2018 by miles. What a see-saw of positions. The race in entirety was like a highlights package. Feel sorry for the ones who didn't watch this. Keep refreshing YouTube and pray someone uploads this race.

Great finish by Marc, and Rins was really a surprise.

What a race! I think this is one of the best races I've seen at least in the last 6-8 years!

After a long time, a race wasn't entertaining due to controversies or incidents.. but for pure adrenaline pumping, high quality racing!

Re: MotoGP : The 2018 Dutch Grand Prix

What an eye pleasing race FINALLY! I was off my sofa at every corner.

Top 7-8 riders led the most the race and boy o boy everyone joined the party somewhere or the other.

I'm sad though Vale was not on the podium and has given MM93 a further stretch of points in the championship.

Hard luck Vale for not being on the well deserved podium.

Cheers,
Amey

Re: MotoGP : The 2018 Dutch Grand Prix

What a Race !!! Been the best of this season so far. Yamahas were very strong but both MV25 and VR46 gave away the pole position to MM93 going too wide in one of the turns. Sad !!
I have always been wanting Maverick in the leader pack battle and what a treat watching him. Does this mean Yamaha has sorted out it's electronic issues ? Or is it because they have been strong here predominantly ? No words to describe MM93, last two laps he just vanished.

Re: MotoGP : The 2018 Dutch Grand Prix

The race was filled with so much action, it should have been shown on split screen. The point scoring top 15 riders, were split only by 16 sec. That's how close the race pace was.
Most must have missed ultimate chicane dual between Rossi and Dovi. Rossi was making up moves after moves at the last chicane all through out the race. But, Dovi has become so experienced in last lap duals, courtesy a certain Mr. Marquez, that he knew exactly what to do. He let Rossi pass, got a better drive coming out, and immediately made a move to take back the fourth place.
Rins was the only rider with Hards on both end. Although Tyre choice hardly made difference in race pace, it was all about feel. It clicked for him.
Also, contrary to his favorite hard tyre, Marquez went for softs, and the move paid. Most of the grid were on harder compounds, even Ducati's, who favour softs.
There is so much to discuss about this race,it can go on and on.

Re: MotoGP : The 2018 Dutch Grand Prix

Brilliant racing by the top 6 finishers as well as Lorenzo. This race could have been won by any of the top 6, no..? Might be, but the difference between the others and Marquez was 1.34 lap time in the last laps on those soft tires, devastating. And that save.

Re: MotoGP : The 2018 Dutch Grand Prix

I am not a follower of MotoGP, but luckily stumbled upon this race while switching between the channels. Awesome race it was! The positions were changing so quickly that P1 was exchanged by 6 riders during this race. The field was so close which made this race very interesting and this is lacking in F1 these days.
