Thats a possibility, since WRC is still technically following a track.

He wouldn't last half a season in F1 with all the 'touch me not' rules F1 has these days.

Maybe this guy should try Dakar or just join any Motorsport racing where contact is allowed. I recall seeing a Top Gear episode where May races in a rallying event where contact is allowed. Unable to find it!

Re: Romano Fenati quits racing after pressing rival's brake lever

This guy would probably get turned down for demolition derbies at his local country fair. Even in an inherently violent sport, the intent is still to wreck the opponent's car, not try to hurt or kill him/her (there are specific rules about NOT ramming certain areas of the car).

I hope he finds gainful employment elsewhere, but he doesn't belong in motorsport or any profession where one has to trust fellow participants for mutual safety.

That guy gets full marks for creativity.
Kicking & nudging needs a perverse mind with loads of control and skill but little imagination.

But, to hit the brakes of a competitor, Oh My!

I wish he was brought into Bangalore as a traffic cop with a free saddle to discipline the traffic - a la Eliot Ness in Untochables

Re: Romano Fenati quits racing after pressing rival's brake lever

I have watched the video at least 10 times and still cannot believe that someone could actually do it! This reminds me of the game called Road Rash that we used to play. On a lighter note, can anyone imagine the sheer amount of talent that this guy has got? Going to the side of another motorcycle at 240 Kmph and sitting up to tap the brake on the other motorcycle takes huge amount of talent, no doubt.

Re: Romano Fenati quits racing after pressing rival's brake lever

Come on guys, do you really think this poor guy invented this trick? In this day of cctv cameras the silly guy just got caught.

Its a sport like any other and some level of 'cheating/mind games/aggression' is to be expected.

I have watched several candid post retirement interviews with 500cc champs of the 90s-2000s and. From memory... they were guys like Barry Sheene, Wayne Gardner and Kevin Schwantz and they all spoke of the bag of dirty tricks racers use and this was one of them. Leaning into them in a then, bumping the back tyre when they are banking, hitting the opponents brake lever....the list goes on.

They have just made an example of this poor joker who got caught doing it on film.

Re: Romano Fenati quits racing after pressing rival's brake lever

FIM withdraws his license until the end of the calendar year. Issual of a new licence will depend on conditions laid down by FIM being met.

Set for a 2019 return, same team but a level lower in Moto 3.
