He was one real talented Race driver, but his bad luck in F1, the cars he drove, first in Williams and then Mclaren suffered from reliability issues, so he couldn't perform on the top!
Also, those years were dominated by Schumi and Ferrari!

I am pretty much certain if Montoya didnt have that biking accident in 05, he would have been crowned the WDC that year. He missed a lot of races due to that accident and when he came back he wasn't fully fit.

During his tenure at Williams, especially in 01 he was spectacular, but he really matured during the 03 season. Everyone was thinking that his Monaco victory was a one off, and then he produced Austria (only to retire) and then he was well off to becoming the champion that year only for his ill advised plunge into the first corner with Rubens at the US GP. The rest as they say is history.

Undoubtedly the all time best racing driver in the world however..

One of the greatest, no doubt, but would have been one of the most respected had he been fair. Not disputing the fact that he was awesome, but his tactics, never went down well with me.
Still regard his driving skills very highily though.

Aaaah! Michael Schumacher has retired. Montoya has gone away.
Who's the greatest ever is always going to be debatable.
Let's leave the discussion at that and concentrate on the current season.
We're gonna have a new champion in less than 2 weeks time.

MY PREDICTION WORLD CHAMPION 2008

1) Lewis Hamilton.
2) Ferrari (Constructors)

It is probably going to be Hamilton and i am not going to be disappointed, but for some reason i would like to see Massa win.

Constructors will probably go to Ferrari.

I am not sure if you approve of them or otherwise.

Even Montoya had the heart to admit his dare devil driving on the track to target Michael and he openly warned Michael to be careful since Michael is in the hunt for Championships. This is enough for me to call it bad! And both were ok with it!

It was good racing and It was a great moment of fun when he was around. I completely enjoyed those days.

Now do we have Montoya & Michael here fighting for 2008 Championships?! I guess No! :Frustrati

So, lets stick to the Hamilton & Massa battle royal in a week ;)

I cannot comment on who is the greatest as I am a biased McLaren fan; anyways lets keep those discussions for the post championship period.

Though I am tipping Lewis to win the WDC and Ferrari the WCC, my record for predicting the winner so hopeless, that I won’t bet on it till after the race. But then it doesn’t count does it?
I hope Williams does well in the final race, which should help them get some sponsors and keep the team afloat.
Anyone on here willing to bet on some more silly comments by Lewis before the final race?

True. For me, it was & at this point in time appears that it will always be Ayrton Senna

Agree with suman. Aryton Senna with Schumy snapping at his heels.

Massa is the hot favourite to win the Brazillian GP, it is his home circuit, familiar with the conditions there & he will have all the support!

But, will that be enough to win the WDC? will have to wait until the Chequered flag!

:uncontrol.. There are already butterflies running in my stomach for the Grand Finale.

Heart says Massa, but lets wait and watch.

Who knows, in order to outdo each other Lewis and Massa may not even finish the race:D

Massaaaa.....Massaaaa....

Yes Fillepe can do it, Ferrari's are anyway on top of the constructors trophy, why not! Schumi has put them there for eternity.

Massa may win (and i hope he does), but Lewis needs to finish lower than 5th. Oh well - we'll just wait and see.

I think Lewis will bag the drivers championship, Ferrari will catch Constructors !!

Now that the race is getting nearer and nearer, the heat is building up. There're speculations that it may get real dirty with both the title contenders fighting with each other and may even hit each other.
Read what Jordan has to say:
autosport.com - F1 News: Jordan: Hamilton must be ruthless
Will something of this sort happen? :Shockked:

To be honest, I don't think Massa will try such a thing. It's of no use to him. Such a move will only gift the title to Hamilton. Massa has to win the race to ensure that he has any chance of winning the title. The rest is completely up to luck. Maybe Alonso can help him out. :p
