Hey guys.....it's F1 time again and this time its the US GP at Indy. This year has been exciting like hell...thanks to different colours on the podium than the usual Reds..

I'm predicting (& desperately want to see) a McLaren 1-2 this race...here is an interesting preview (courtesy www.planet-f1.com)

It’s another F1 rollover weekend – no sooner have the dents been bashed out from Canada, than it’s time to make friends with the walls around Indy.

Canada had an unusually high attrition rate which saw some very lofty results for some very ordinary cars – Felipe Massa good enough for 4th? The Red Bulls good enough to score three points between them? Hardly.

It was good from a morale point of view to see two flashes of red on the podium and if you were looking at past results, the red cars have dominated the US GP. Until this weekend...

It’s most likely to be the silver and black and the blue and yellow at the front on Sunday, with a slim chance of interruption from the Scuderia, Toyota, BMW-Williams and BAR-Honda.

Kimi Raikkonen is unlikely to get a repeat of the mistake that put Fernando Alonso in the wall, and you can bet that following another retirement from Fisi, Pat Symmonds will have tightened up the "Hydra - ollicks".

Since Montreal, Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has said that he pays Fisi to drive, not be pissed off, which is not the kind of man management technique you’d get from Jean Todt or Ron Dennis. If Flav really wants to win one or both titles then he needs to be a little more driver-friendly.

In Flav’s team in recent years there has been “the star driver” and “the other one”. When it was Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button, Jarno was the star driver and Jenson was the other one. Jenson Button was sidelined.

When it was Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli, Fernando was the star and Jarno got sidelined. Now it’s Fernando and Fisi and Giancarlo is getting sidelined. There’s nothing wrong with Jarno Trulli as we’ve seen this year, and there’s nothing wrong with Jenson Button’s driving. Until he got to Renault, Fisi was rated as one of the top five drivers on the grid. Not any more. So you’ve got to say it must be something in the way they’re managed.

Having retired early in Montreal both drivers will be starting qualifying early, so you can rule out front row starts. Though given their meteoric starts in Canada, 5th or 6th shouldn’t be too much of a penalty.

Raikkonen and Montoya both have the confidence of the fastest car and one that picks up pace as the race goes on. Ferrari used to have an amazing turn of speed after being refuelled, but all of a sudden that has come to a stop. Which is a little curious…

BAR-Honda want to do well in the North American market. You only had to look at the signage they’d hired around the Isle Notre Dame to see that. So expect a motor with some oomf for Indy. The same could be said of Toyota who already do well in the American open-wheel series.

BMW-Williams will want to pick themselves up after some mediocre performances last weekend, though the times when BMW power meant the most horses and the most revs on the grid is definitely over.

Former Williams driver Ralf Schumacher will no doubt have a few sore memories from last year when his car impacted the wall and he fractured a vertebra. If the same thing happens again it will be interesting to see if the F1 medical car gets there any quicker. Professor Sid is no longer on board.

The first turn at Indy is the place to watch the race and all the serious overtaking will happen here. It’s also a good place for collectors of broken front wings. God knows how many they’d get if they had a GP2 race at Indy. Half the field, probably.

If you were to bet on anybody losing one, the Planet-F1 office’s money is on Takuma Sato, or Ralf Schumacher.

Further down the field Red Bull will give another opportunity to Scott Speed to drive their third car. Speed was not aptly named in Canada, propping up the time sheets even though Friday testers have the freedom to be as fast and as mean on their engines as they like. He’ll be hoping for more of his surname at Indy.

Finally Jordan, with a nice chunky Toyota power unit, will be looking to consign Minardi to the back two rows of the grid again. The Narain versus Tiago intra-team battle is getting very close all of a sudden. Pity the car they’re driving isn’t being developed as much as Karthikeyan’s driving skills.

It may probably be Mclaren 1-2 this time because they seem to have good pace with JPM setting fastest times in both practice sessions while Renaults are struggling for pace. But ferrari is also compititive, so they may also make it to a podium finish.

Can't predict, McLaren could end up clinching two of the top three steps after their impressive form in Canada. Ferrari getting on to the podium was sheer luck...because all the others before them retired exept for Kimi.

Looks like the stage is set for a McLaren 1-2. JPM set the fastest lap in friday free practice, followed by Kimi. The two Ferraris were 3rd and 4th half a second behind the McLarens, with RB outpacing MS. The two Renaults were lower down the order. The RedBulls look impressive with DC finishing 6th. The crash of Ralf revisited him during the session... Ralf again crashed at the final corner.
I really dont see why McLarens can't get a 1-2 here. They look all set. No real competition. All the cars being a lot slower than them. But, this is F1... anything is possible.
Qualifying is at 0730 sunday morning while the race is on at 2230.

What A Bloody Farce!

Yeah man....this is really stupid...why the hell have a race with just 6 cars...

Absolute mockery of the spirit of motor racing. I have lost respect for Ferrari too, if they got their Tyre combo right, why not go ahead and race and actually win fair and square?
Where is the spirit of bloody motor racing? I do feel putting up a chicane to slow things down a bit was a right suggestion. Ferrari would have lost a little advantage, buttttt WHERE IS THE SPIRIT OF MOTOR RACING? Would have made for an entertaining race too. Also shows how much of a privilege Ferrari still has over the others.
F1 politics sucks. I feel sorry for all the people who spent a 100 greenbacks to watch the race only to find 6 cars on the grid, out of which I predict 2 DNFs.

Bernie can kiss my you know what. But in a way, it saved me the trouble of staying up late. Good night and Godspeed.

So much for the predictions!!! Whom do you think will win the race out of 6 drivers ... :D

Go Narain! :D

I'm hoping some of the people who paid to watch the race sue the race organisers.

I don't agree with the 'spirit of motor racing' sentimental argument though. Couldn't the organisers just cancel the race? Ferrari and any other team is there to make points and win races. It is their job to race.

Who else....Schumi

Hope Narain does well compared to the rest 3 drivers and ends up on the podium :D

9 teams agreed for a chicane at the last sector. Ferrari refused saying why should they suffer. ***. Ferrari cant win races nowadays that doesno mean they spoil the fun. Race is so boring. 6 cars and 4 back marker cars. No overtaking. Seems all are on a warm up lap. Bernie thinks he can beat Nascar and Indy racing in US. This wont do any good to F1 nor to ferrari who have played spoil sport. Look at Jean Tod. He smiles as if he has one another world construtors championship.

thats it all f1 fans please don't buy FIAT cars from now on
(infact don't buy cars coming out of any of its sister company)

did you guys checked the todt's face when camera was on him
he was smiling.

i am praying both ferrari fail to finish (really don't care who wins)

BTW
people are throwing stuff on track & most of them have already left

They couldn't cancel the race, because the stakes involved are too high. Since it's people's JOB to race, there is also somebody paying a lot of money for these people to do their job. This is where a compromise comes in, and the chicane seemed like a good bet. What would you rather see: 6 cars on the grid, Ferrari 1-2 or some exciting 20 car racing?

It's when people stop agreeing with the 'spirit of motor racing' argument, that politics decides results and a hallucinating Ernie going beserk with his pen and a blank sheet of paper.

Ok guys heard enough about Ferrari.
They are absolutely not wrong on their part. Its very simple, its business think about your own benefit then you will earn what is called profit not by sharing with rivals.

Just one question : Would have Michelin shod teams agreed to similar thing if Ferrari was in trouble?
Guys, here why are we noticing so many changes in rules, why, to end Ferrari era. No one will agree.

OTHER 9 teams had came ot a conclusion that that all micheline runner will run from back (advantage ferrari)
also there is something called as 'GREATER INTEREST OF SPORT"
not to mention because of this f1 will loose lots of fans (not good for all teams)
also it made ferrari look bad (affects car sales)

not a wise decision to take when you have signed contract with FIA till 2012 (should i mention that too to get more moeny from FIA)

if ferrari wouldn't have been so selfish till now then YES
